AUDI: RS 3 cracks Nordschleife record 🎥

POWER With a time of 7:40.748 minutes, the new Audi RS 3 Sedan is now considered the fastest compact model on the Nordschleife. For the first time, the Torque Splitter system was impressively used in a model of the Four Rings.

For the Audi Sport race and development driver, the new torque splitter was the main contributor to the successful record drive. The system was used in an Audi model for the first time.

The system distributes the drive torques fully variably between the rear wheels - controlled via a multi-plate clutch on the respective drive shaft.

Drive to curve outer rear wheel
In sporty driving, the splitter increases the drive torque to the outer rear wheel with the higher wheel load. In right-hand bends, more torque is transferred to the left rear wheel, while in left-hand bends it is the other way round. As a result, the RS 3 turns into the curve even better and follows the steering angle more precisely.

RS 3
With the Audi RS 3, the best-in-class top speed of 290 km/h was possible on the Nordschleife.

Tire pressure adjusted to the track
The record setup was completed by the optional Pirelli P Zero "Trofeo R" semi-slick tires available ex factory, whose pressure was adapted to the track conditions, as well as the 19-inch ceramic brake system at the front and the RS sport suspension plus with adaptive damper control.

As a result, the five-cylinder high-performance engine in the RS 3 achieves a class-leading top speed of 290 km/h and also leaves the competition behind with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
