Volkswagen: First pictures and data of the Amarok 🎥

FOLLOWER Camouflaged models of the new Amarok from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles are on the road in Europe. Despite camouflage, you can see how the dimensions have changed. The new model will arrive in Switzerland at the beginning of 2023.

At a good 5.35 meters, the new model is 100 millimeters longer than its predecessor. A wheelbase of 3.27 meters corresponds to an increase of 175 millimeters - which means more space in the crew cab. In addition, the payload is increased to up to 1.2 tons and a superior maximum towing capacity of 3.5 tons is now possible via more engine and transmission variants.

VW Amarok
In Switzerland, the new Amarok will be offered with a crew cab and four doors (DoubleCab) in early 2023.

Diesel engines with four to six cylinders
As the wheelbase of the new Amarok grows more than its overall length, the body overhangs are reduced. This has a positive effect on the angle of repose and thus on off-road capability. The off-road capabilities of the new Amarok are also perfected by a significantly greater fording depth than on its predecessor.

In Switzerland, three different diesels with four to six cylinders and 2.0 to 3.0 liters of displacement will be on offer - optionally with rear-wheel drive, selectable or permanent all-wheel drive. A wide range of preconfigured driving modes in several stages support the driver even in unusual situations. The more than 30 assistance systems, over 20 of which are completely new on board the Amarok, provide added safety.

For the first time, all-terrain tires are standard equipment
The fenders above the up to 21-inch light-alloy wheels and all-terrain tires, available as standard for the first time, are powerfully flared.

The new pickup is also striking from the rear. The wide tailgate is framed by the standard LED taillights; the Amarok lettering is embossed across almost the entire width of the tailgate. As with its predecessor, the new Amarok also offers sufficient space between the wheel arches for a Euro pallet to be loaded transversely, which can be lashed there with sturdy eyelets.

New infotainment display in tablet format
The Amarok interior with its self-explanatory controls, digital cockpit and infotainment display in tablet format is functional and high-quality - details that underscore the premium character of the pickup.

This is further enhanced by an optional exclusive sound system and the surfaces of the instrument panel and door trim, which are finished in a fine leather look with striking decorative stitching. The new seating system corresponds with the premium positioning.

Consistent functionality and high payloads
More than 830,000 units of the Amarok have been sold to date in Europe, South America, South Africa and Oceania. The strengths of the successful premium pickup: superior drive systems, high payloads, consistent functionality and an authentic all-terrain design. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is building on these strengths with the new generation.
