Suzuki: Ignis comeback as a crossover

With the Ignis, Suzuki wants to ignite the start of a new segment: That of the micro-SUV. The small all-wheel drive vehicle offers a lot of interior space, a tight chassis and numerous assistance and safety systems despite its compact exterior dimensions. Suzuki's Ignis: The new Ignis micro-SUV is an attractive proposition. With its smart design and all-wheel drive, it is unique. The 2WD starts at 14,990 francs, with Allgrip 4WD from 17,990 francs.

The name Ignis is derived from the English "ignition" and has already been used by Suzuki for a small car. The new Ignis, on the other hand, is completely different and immediately catches the eye with its crossover genes: At 3.7 meters in length, the small all-rounder presents itself with a confident front and a rear that takes some getting used to and stands out from the crowd. Other special features are a notch in the side hood and three beads in the C-pillar, which are also found on the center console. A tribute to the Cervo coupe from the 1970s.

Interior: The cockpit of the Suzuki Ignis is unconventional, and the 7-inch touchscreen with infotainment system is exceptionally large. All information is easy to read.

There is sufficient space for up to five occupants
The interior stands out pleasantly and is kept in black and white. Depending on the exterior paint scheme, the center console and interior door handles feature different colored trim. Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the Ignis offers a surprising amount of space and legroom, especially for the rear passengers, whose seats slide.

The comfort and safety features are exemplary: From the tablet-like integrated 7-inch touchscreen with smartphone connection to the camera-supported emergency braking and lane departure warning system, there is plenty on offer. This is one of the reasons why it received five stars in the NCAP crash test.

Enough power in every situation, even as a hybrid
The 90 hp of the 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine has little trouble with the 900-kilogram tiny car and ensures appealing performance. However, the suspension is quite stiff. Those who want to consume 4.3 liters (97 g/km) instead of 4.6 liters (104 g/km) of gasoline according to the drive cycle can opt for the no less zippy mild hybrid variant.
