Cupra: Tavascan and DarkRebel for the anniversary 🎥

FUTURE Two premieres in one fell swoop. To mark its fifth anniversary this year, Cupra is presenting its first all-electric SUV coupe, the Tavascan, as well as the virtual DarkRebel.

The DarkRebel sports car was designed for a future city no longer limited by physical boundaries, and which can be configured by fans of the brand according to personal preferences (gallery below). In addition, the Spaniards officially go online with Metahype, the Challenger brand's experience space in the metaverse. At the wheel of the UrbanRebel Racing Concept, the physical and digital worlds meet.

Power levels up to 340 hp

The Tavascan embodies Cupra's electrified vision and stays true to the concept car that was unveiled as a concept car at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The exterior design has athletic and sporty proportions. From the front, the LED matrix with the triangular eye signature is immediately recognizable.

An emotional and driver-oriented SUV, the Tavascan features DCC Sport dynamic chassis technology, a sport suspension and progressive steering. These attributes, along with performance tires on forged 21-inch alloy wheels, create a uniquely sporty driving experience.

The Tavascan will be available in two power ratings: 210 kW (286 hp) and 250 kW (340 hp). The more powerful version features twin-motor all-wheel drive. According to the factory, the Tavascan VZ can reach a speed of 50 km/h in 2.4 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds)...

Super sound and fast charge

The range of the Tavascan is said to be up to 549 kilometers according to the official WLTP test cycle. The SUV can be recharged in seven minutes with an additional range of 100 kilometers. When the battery drops to ten percent, it is back to 80 percent in just under half an hour at a 135-kW charging station. The Tavascan offers an optional high-fidelity audio system with twelve speakers, developed in collaboration with Sennheiser.

Drive and determination

Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Cupra: "We are still a young brand. And yet in just five years, thanks to our drive and determination, we have set one record after another at a remarkable pace. Since the brand's launch, Cupra has sold more than 300,000 vehicles, making it the fastest growing brand in Europe. In the first quarter of 2023, we set a record with more than 46,000 sales and drove Seat's profitability."

Designed and developed in Barcelona, the Tavascan rolls off the production line at the Volkswagen Group's Anhui plant in China.
