Bugatti: Bolide produces 1600 hp and 1600 Nm 🎥
THERE'S STILL MORE When Bugatti unveiled the exciting Bolide in the fall of 2020, it was a drivable experimental vehicle. That's why a small series of 40 units of this hypercar is now to be launched. At present, the engineers are developing a production model that embodies the highest expansion stage of the legendary 8-liter W16.
Stephan Winkelmann, President Bugatti: "We generated great enthusiasm with the Bolide last year. I was overwhelmed by the reactions of customers from all over the world."
Available power with a massive 1600 hp
In the Bolide experimental vehicle, racing gasoline with 110 octane provides an output of 1850 hp; in the production vehicle, Bugatti has opted for Super Plus gasoline with 98 octane, which is available worldwide. The available power is then 1600 hp, the maximum torque 1600 Nm.
The cooling system for the turbocharger, engine, transmission and differential has been adapted for optimum power delivery.
Optimization of aerodynamics and driving behavior
Designers and engineers are currently fine-tuning aerodynamics and handling. To ensure optimum safety and sufficient comfort, Bugatti is redesigning many components.
Safety features include HANS (Head and Neck Support) system compatibility, an automatic fire extinguishing system, pressurized fueling, central locking for wheels and a six-point seat belt system.
Performance project is a challenge
Achim Anscheidt, Chief Designer Bugatti: "The Bolide is by far the most challenging performance project of my 17-year Bugatti career. The design is the most purist approach to our 'form follows performance' philosophy and is also based on uncompromising lightweight construction. Many air ducts and the filigree front end are reminiscent of Formula 1 cars. The proportion of visible carbon parts increases compared with other models."
