BMW: Less weight and more power 🎥

MINUS 20 KILOGRAMS, PLUS 40 HP In the CS version, the four-door BMW M3 sports sedan is even lighter and more powerful than the already extremely dynamic M3 Competition model. All-wheel drive comes as standard.

It seems that BMW's M3 and M4 pairing leaves almost endless scope for special tweaks. The drive concept of the new M3 CS includes a 550-hp inline six-cylinder engine, an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. This combination enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The BMW M3 CS will be produced in a limited edition in Munich from March.

Power-to-weight ratio improved again

More engine power and less weight is the formula for the new M3 CS. The power source for the four-door model is a further developed variant of the familiar 3-liter inline-six engine with turbocharging and high-revving characteristics. Compared with the BMW M3 Competition, maximum output has increased by 40 hp to 550 hp. Between 2750 rpm and 5950 rpm, the engine provides its maximum torque of 650 Nm. It reaches peak power at 6250 rpm, and top speed is 7200 rpm.

The new M3 CS accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in just 11.1 seconds.

Exterior and interior parts made of lightweight CFRP

In the special model, the hood, front splitter, front air intakes, exterior mirror caps, rear diffuser and rear spoiler are made of lightweight CFRP material. The center console, the shift paddles on the steering wheel and the interior trim strips are also made of the same material.

The standard carbon bucket seats further contribute to weight optimization, and the exhaust system with the titanium rear silencer also saves four kilograms in weight. Compared with the M3 Competition, this means a saving of around 20 kilograms. BMW offers Frozen Solid White metallic as the exclusive body paint finish.

The Bavarian will be available from dealers in March from 188,200 Swiss francs.
