Audi: First photos and data of the A6 e-tron 🎥

PREMIERE The world's only Audi A6 e-tron show car demonstrated the future of the model series during a brief visit to the Amag headquarters in Cham. The pure electric vehicle will be available as a Sportback and Avant in mid-2024.

Battery-powered vehicles are in the fast lane. Within two years, their share has doubled to 16 percent. At the unveiling of the A6 e-tron show car, Dieter Jermann (center gallery), Swiss Audi brand manager for four years, was able to report positive figures.

In the first five months of 2022, for example, Audi was able to maintain its prior-year level in Switzerland despite a significantly declining market (minus 11.7 percent), thus moving up to second place among premium suppliers with a new record share of 8.2 percent.

With the A6 e-tron concept car, Audi is giving a preview of further development in the C-segment.

Production starts from the end of the year
Together with its sister company Porsche, Audi has developed the new PPE architecture (Premium Platform Electric), which is modeled for fully electric vehicles in the B and C segments. The BEV model now only has the type designation in common with the thermal A6. From the end of 2022, the first production vehicles with the scalable PPE technology will debut in the C segment and later also in the B segment.

These include both SUVs with high vehicle floors and dynamically designed models with flat floors such as the future Audi A6 e-tron. Audi aims to attract potential customers below the e-tron GT with the purely battery-powered luxury-class Sportback and Avant.

WLTP range of up to 700 kilometers
The A6 e-tron Sportback could certainly be classified as a sporty sedan. It is 4.96 meters long, 1.96 meters wide and only 1.44 meters high. In terms of dimensions, it is thus very close to the current A6 and A7.

The gross 100 kWh battery is to enable a maximum WLTP range of 700 kilometers in the base version with rear-wheel drive. Audi uses the 800-volt on-board network architecture, which enables a charging performance of up to 270 kW. This means that around 300 kilometers can be recharged in ten minutes. From five to 80 percent should only take just under 25 minutes. Ideal for a coffee or lunch stop.

The A6 e-tron is also offered as a quattro all-wheel drive version. It offers 475 hp and 800 Nm of torque, and the A6 e-tron accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in under four seconds.

Long wheelbase and short overhangs
The long wheelbase, short overhangs and large wheels (22 inches) are striking features of the show car, which, apart from a few details, is supposed to look like the production version. The spoiler has been skillfully integrated into the rear and the continuous rear light strip shines with the latest OLED technology. In addition, the A6 e-tron features very narrow matrix LED front headlights.

The virtual exterior mirrors are available as an option. In addition, the touch door opening integrated in the B-pillar of the show car will not make it into series production. Conventional, but aerodynamically optimized door handles are planned.

Important model for Swiss market

Dieter Jermann: "With the Audi A6 e-tron concept, Audi is providing a pioneering outlook for the consistent electric further development of our Group strategy. The Audi A6 e-tron concept is a particularly important model for the Swiss market and will progressively lead the success story of the high-volume Avant models of the brand with the four rings in the C-segment into the future of e-mobility, igniting the next stage of the e-volution at Audi."
