Weekend Tip: Modern or Classic? đŸŽ„

DTM, GOODWOOD OR BERNINA? Autosport fans can watch the DTM live in Assen (NL) this weekend. A year ago, spectators were allowed onto the gigantic grandstands at Assen for the first time in Corona times. Now, the GT3 sports cars manned by professionals will also provide plenty of action.

The TT circuit at Assen is the sixth DTM stop before the decisive double-header with Hockenheim (October 1-3) and the rescheduled finale at Nuremberg's Norisring a week later.

Philip Ellis remains well in the title race
The Dutch circuit puts the 21 drivers - including the two guest starters Mirko Bortolotti in the Lamborghini and Christian Klien in the McLaren - to the test with its fast and medium-fast corners (up to 235 km/h).

A sextet, led by South African Kelvin van der Linde on ABT-Audi R8, dominates the action for the award of the first DTM title with GT3 sports cars. Fortunately, they include a Swiss driver, Philip Ellis from Zug on Mercedes-AMG.

Nico MĂŒller still wants to put an exclamation mark
For Nico MĂŒller, on the other hand, the task at Assen is to finally catch up with the front of the field with Team Rosberg's Audi before the championship train (see Table status) has finally departed.

Nico MĂŒller: "It'll be difficult but the goal is to move up into the top 5 again. Assen doesn't necessarily suit the Audi but should be better than Spielberg last time. I no longer realistically see my title fight but of course we'll never give up and try to get the best out of the last six races, put another exclamation mark and continue learning as a team."

For Nico MĂŒller, it's all about a top result in the final third of the season. The title is no longer realistic.

Both races will be broadcast on Sat1 on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. on free TV. The DTM Trophy for GT4 drivers, in which Lucas Mauron in an Audi R8 and Yann Zimmer in a BMW M4 fight for the podium, can be seen live on Sport1 from 1.10 p.m. each day. DTM and DTM Trophy can also be viewed on YouTube and the online platform DTM Grid be tracked.

ELMS in Belgium and Euro Nascar in Croatia
Modern international racing is also offered by the European Le Mans Series and Euro Nascar. At his team WRT's home race in Spa-Francorchamps, Louis Delétraz from Geneva is aiming for his third win of the season and the successful defense of the championship lead.

After the huge disappointment at Le Mans - dropping out of the race in P1 on the last lap - it would be good for him. You can watch the 4-hour race on Sunday from 11 a.m. on the series' YouTube channel.

If you like archaic Nascar touring cars (Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro with 400-horsepower V8 engines), you can look to YouTube watch the next two races of the Nascar Whelen Euro Series in Grobnik. Giorgio Maggi stood on the podium of the premier class in Croatia a year ago and would like to repeat this.

The Nascar GP in Croatia is the next stop of the Euro Series.

Goodwood live, at home or in Kemptthal
After there was only a SpeedWeek as a TV spectacle last year because of Corona, a real Goodwood Revival will again take place in front of spectators from Friday to Sunday. The unique event also has many Swiss fans, but probably only the very few of them travel to southern England during these uncertain travel times.

But that's not all bad, because Goodwood TV will be providing a professionally staged direct broadcast to your living room from 8 a.m. until the end of the race. You can watch it on Facebook or YouTube. There are repeats at night.

Those who like it a bit more atmospheric among like-minded people are welcome on Saturday at Motorworld & The Valley Kemptthal. We had pointed out this possibility and the conditions of admission on August 23 in this Preliminary report pointed out.

In the List of participants of the various races includes not only the who's who of British racing and historic racing, but also some Swiss names. Neel Jani and Marcel FÀssler, for example, are competing in several TW or GT races.

International starting field at the Bernina Gran Turismo
Visitors can also see some of the models on the move around the Goodwood Circuit (with free admission along the route!) at the Bernina mountain race. The start is in La Rösa on the Puschlaver side, finish after 5.7 kilometers and about 50 curves on the 2235 meter high Bernina Pass.

The international field of participants, which is limited to 80 oldtimers and youngtimers, is divided into Competition and Regularity. Unlike last year, when Thomas Amweg dominated in the Martini-BMW F2, the touring car and GT drivers competing for the best time are partly with sounding names (see provisional Entry list) this time among themselves.

After the practice session on Saturday from 7.40 to 11.20 hrs, races 1 and 2 will be held from 13.40 hrs onwards, followed by races 3 and 4 on Sunday morning at the same times. The fastest running time will be scored.

The professionally captured impressions of the Bernina GT 2020 give an impression of the fascination of this event in Engadin and Puschlav.
