With the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup based on the 308 GTi, Peugeot Sport gave its sporty customers the first opportunity to compete with opponents in the booming TCR category back in 2017. Since January 3, 2018, the French company has been offering a race touring car developed in accordance with TCR regulations.

The engine of the 308TCR has a displacement of only 1600 cc instead of the maximum permitted two liters with turbocharging. However, with 350 hp and a maximum torque of 420 Nm at 3000 rpm, Peugeot is absolutely on the ball with its engine.

The price for a race-ready car, which will be delivered from April, is 109,000 euros plus tax. Peugeot will present the 308TCR to the general public at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Mathias Schläppi (right), seen here in conversation with TCR driver Pascal Eberle from Eastern Switzerland, is in negotiations with Peugeot.

There is also interest in this new model from Switzerland. Racing driver and team boss Mathias Schläppi is negotiating with those responsible at Peugeot. Schläppi Race-Tec would like to use this car in the TCR Germany and in endurance races.

"We are working with Peugeot. After the 24-hour race in Dubai in mid-January, things should be decided," admits the man from Meiringen. "I have a long-standing personal relationship with this brand and would also like to drive it again myself."
