Lamborghini: First tests with the hybrid racer 🎥

Test drives with the Lamborghini SC63 will already start in the coming weeks. It will compete in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship in the hypercar class including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the GTP class of the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car Championship Endurance Cup. The Endurance Cup consists of races such as the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring.

Cooperation with Team Iron Lynx

Lamborghini has teamed up with the Italian team Iron Lynx to enter the car in international competitions. The brand has also attracted world-class drivers from Formula 1 and endurance racing. The LMDh project represents a new racing concept and fits the one unveiled in 2021.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Lamborghini: "The SC63 is the most advanced race car Lamborghini has ever produced. It follows our Direzione Cor Tauri for the electrification of the product range. This roadmap for electrification guides the company on the path to hybridize the entire model range by the end of 2024 while increasing driving performance."

New 3.8-liter biturbo V8 engine

The SC63 is powered by a new 3.8-liter biturbo V8 engine developed by Lamborghini specifically for the racing program. The hybrid system's output is limited by regulations to 500 kW (680 hp). The LMDh regulations specify the transmission, battery and motor-generator unit as unit components, which helps contain development costs.

Rouven Mohr, Chief Technical Officer at Lamborghini: "For us, motorsport is an important testing ground for the further development of our technology. Both SC63s will compete in the green shade Verde Mantis with a black stripe in the shade Nero Noctis across the cockpit and front hood, as well as with a diffuser, rear fin and wing made of carbon."
The Iron Lynx team will run the cars in both series.
