Ralph Boschung had to prematurely abandon his second season in FIA Formula 2 last year after ten of the twelve events. It wasn't until the test drives after the last race in Abu Dhabi that he took to the wheel again.

Since then, the 21-year-old from Valais has been working flat out to finance a third season in the second-highest racing car class. His work has paid off. Thanks to the support of companies such as Gotham, MedXcell and Malbuner, Boschung was able to sign a contract with Trident Motorsport.

The chemistry is right
He already tested with the team from Milan a week ago in Barcelona. With Louis Delétraz at the champion team Carlin and Ralph Boschung at Trident Motorsport, Switzerland is thus represented in FIA Formula 2 by two fast young drivers. Boschung's teammate is Giuliano Alesi, who belongs to the Ferrari Driver Academy.

Ralph Boschung: "I am delighted that the deal has worked out. I worked long and hard on it. I have been in contact with Trident for years. The chemistry between us is right, which is an important prerequisite for success together. I thank them and my sponsors for believing in me."

Third team in three years
Trident Motorsport is the third team in three years for Boschung. With both Campos in 2017 and MP Motorsport in 2018, a seventh-place finish was the best result in each case. Seventh in Baku and eighth in Monza, Boschung started Sunday's race from the front row twice in accordance with the regulations last year, but was unable to turn the good starting position into a top result. No one doubts that he is capable of doing so with a little more luck. And proving this is now his big goal.
