The Lexus from Switzerland took command from the start of the first race and drove to its third victory of the season.

After the two-month summer break, Emil Frey Lexus Racing returned with a bang in the International GT Open - the Spanish-organized GT3 championship with teams from all over Europe. At the fifth race weekend of the season at the legendary Silverstone circuit, the Swiss team impressed in Saturday's race with a dominant start-finish victory.

After a strong third-place finish in the second race on Sunday, the team is in third position in the championship with four races still to go. Albert Costa Balboa and Philipp Frommenwiler improved to second place in the drivers' standings.

Team boss Lorenz Frey, who competes in the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup with the Jaguar team from Safenwil, drew a thoroughly positive conclusion.

"We made perfect use of the long summer break to test all the things on the car that we don't have time for during a race weekend. As we've now seen at Silverstone, all the work we put into the project over the summer has paid off. I'm very pleased with the development we've made. Now we're entering the hot final phase and we're in the thick of the fight for the championship title. We would never have expected this at the beginning of the season."
