In the first practice run on Sunday morning on a wet track, the man from Uri set a time of 2'06.82 in his Mitsubishi Evo VIII Egmo, which was only beaten in the first race run in comparable conditions by the eventual winner of the day, Thomas Amweg in his Lola F3000. In the second race run, on a drying track, brand colleague Roger Schnellmann achieved this year's best touring car time at Gurnigel on his way to second place overall in 2'02,05.
Not a driving error, but a technical defect
On his Facebook page, Ronnie Bratschi describes how well he had felt in the car until the accident and that no driver error or excessive speed was the deciding factor.
