To set a record time, Chloe Chambers had to find the right balance.

The student writes top grades, is a karting champion and has a black belt in taekwondo. There are many automotive world records that require the highest level of ambition.

For the record "Fastest slalom in the world", the time is measured when driving around 50 pylons, each of which is set up 15.05 meters apart. Here, driving must be very precise.

The previous record was a time of 48.11 seconds for a slalom distance of 762 meters.

Record
16-year-old Chloe Chambers set a new world record at the wheel of a Porsche 718 Spyder.

New York State Champion
Chloe Chambers grew up in the Hudson Valley of upstate New York. She spent her childhood watching Formula 1 on TV with her father Matt, as well as accompanying him to autocross races in his custom-built Porsche 944 Turbo.

Soon little Chloe was behind the wheel at the races herself: at the age of eight, she won her first regional championship. Three years later, she became champion in her state.

Takeoff permission on open runway
None of this should obscure the fact that Chambers is still a teenager. But there are probably few teenagers who are handed the keys to a brand-new Porsche 718 Spyder and given permission to take off on an open runway.

Perfect car for the record attempt
To set a record time, Chloe Chambers had to find the right balance so that she didn't lose momentum as the track progressed. Too much understeer causes the car's nose to move too far away from the pylons. If there is too much oversteer, the driver has to take her foot off the gas.

Says Chloe Chambers, "So the 420-horsepower, rear-wheel-drive Spyder with its naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer mid-engine was the perfect choice for such a slalom."

Professional appearance of the pilot
The first warm-up laps were precise, fast and already scratched the existing record while the tires were still warming up.

If there was ever a moment of doubt for the pilot, she didn't let it show: Her facial expression showed the calm and professional demeanor of someone who had proven her talent before.

Fastest run with 47.45 seconds
Finally, the last attempt. The result: 47.45 seconds - over half a second faster than she had set herself. She only showed the first signs of emotion when her father came to tell her that she had set a new record. Only a professional behaves like that.
