Matchbox
The cars in Best of Europe are representative of models that were and are on display in England and Germany.

Matchbox is complemented by new, meaningful values that make the toy classic an indispensable companion even for children of the 21st century. Matchbox was founded in 1953 by British inventor Jack Odell and still sells more than 40 million toy vehicles every year.

Now the English brand launches the Best of Europe line. This is directed as a tribute to manufacturers from Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Russia.

Cooperation with well-known manufacturers
Today, the Matchbox brand is considered a classic, but Mattel has big plans to inspire both the new generation of children and loyal collectors.

Roberto Stanichi, Global Head of Vehicles at Mattel: "Matchbox invented the toy car seven decades ago, and now we're drawing inspiration from those roots to reach the next generation."

Mattel took a close look at its brand values to redefine what Matchbox really stands for. In developing the new Best of Europe range, Matchbox's design team worked closely with car manufacturers to find out which models would be suitable to represent each country.

English and German models to choose from
The vehicles in the new range are representative of vehicles that were and are seen on the roads in the UK and in Germany.

These are the models Land Rover Defender, Austin Mini Cooper, Lotus Europa and Exige, Jaguar E-Type and F-Type, Mini Countryman on the one hand, VW Beetle and Golf, Audi R8, Porsche 911 GT3, Mercedes-Benz Unimog, BMW 2002 on the other.
