It could be the ultimate Christmas gift for true enthusiasts - a handmade wristwatch, lovingly crafted from components that were once part of a classic Ford Mustang. It's the brainchild of the company's founders Christian Mygh and Jonathan Kamstrup, who have worked together to scour the world for scrapped or junked Ford Mustangs to transform remnants of the vehicles into one-of-a-kind timepieces, now available from their online store starting at $1495: www.recwatches.com/collections/p51

The own Mustang as raw material
For true Mustang fans, Danish company WEC even makes watches from parts brought or sent in by the customer. "Most people would see just a pile of metal in the 'scrap' parts of old Mustangs. We see something completely different - which is the soul of a car and a story to tell," Christian Mygh said. "We don't recycle the old Mustangs, we bring them back to life as a high-quality watch."

To ensure that these stories continue to be told, REC Watches carefully tracks the history of each vehicle, talking to previous owners, collecting stories and images. Each finished piece features the original vehicle identification number, year of manufacture and classic Mustang design features. A power gauge designed to look like a fuel gauge shows remaining battery life, and the hands, date and dial numbers were all inspired by the iconic automobile's dashboard.
