British jeweler Russell Lord started his unusual model building project 25 years ago. Since then, the passionate car collector, who owns 55 genuine Ford Escorts, has invested thousands of working hours in completing the precious miniature.
Orange sapphire indicators
The body of the model jewel is made of silver, and the car model also features gold brakes and spoiler, 18-carat gold wheels and hood hinges also made of gold, an 18-carat white gold radiator grille, diamond headlights, indicators made of orange sapphires and rear lights made of rubies.
Factory rally car from Ari Vatenen
Russell Lord, who lives in the southern English county of Essex: "It was a hobby that I kept coming back to when I had time. Three years ago, I decided to complete the project. I know this car from the ground up - I simply built the model piece by piece without making any plans beforehand."
His model is based on Ari Vatenen's Ford Escort Mk2 factory rally car from the late 1970s. The material price alone is 90,000 euros.
