How it went at last year's WinterRAID, shows the short film clip. 48 teams from Switzerland and eight other nations have registered for the WinterRAID 2019, which is being held for the 16th time. Represented are vehicles from 20 different brands from 1934 to 1992.

Duel of the two veterans
The starting number 1 goes to the hardened Louis Frey and co-driver Patrick Dätwyler in their open Lagonda M35 Le Mans Rapide. Frey has not yet missed a WinterRAID and is one of the crowd favorites par excellence. With Daniel Landolt and Michael Weber in a 1934 Alvis Speed 20 Special of the same age, they will have equal opponents.

To get in the mood and as training, there will be a prologue with its own classification on Wednesday afternoon. The actual WinterRAID begins on Thursday, January 17, with the technical inspection at Engadin Bus AG in St. Moritz Bad.

The start of the largest winter rally in Switzerland traditionally takes place at 12:30 p.m. in the pedestrian zone of St. Moritz, accompanied by the sounds of alphorns.

Traditionally, the start takes place in the middle of St. Moritz. Spectators are welcome and get to see a lot (photos: RAID organization).

No program change
Afterwards, the teams will drive to the first hose test at the parking lot of the Diavolezza cable car, then continue over the Bernina Pass towards Trento, where the first stage ends in the evening. After covering around 1,000 kilometers, the winter athletes on four wheels will arrive back in St. Moritz on Saturday afternoon, where the finish line will be celebrated from 4 p.m. on the village square.

According to the RAID organization, the rally can be held without changing the program despite the heavy snowfall these days. There is plenty of snow especially on the way to and in the Engadine and much less in the Dolomites.

The exact program and the complete starting list can be found on the homepage of the RAID organization.
