World Skills 2022: Florent Lacilla is world champion 🎥

PROUD OF SWITZERLAND With his success at the World Vocational Championships in Dresden, Florent Lacilla shows the strength of the Swiss automotive industry. The 23-year-old automotive mechatronics technician from Fribourg took gold.

 

The young specialist from Cottens crowned his professional career to date with the title of world champion in automotive mechatronics at World Skills 2022. He has already emerged as the Swiss Skills winner twice. His family, friends and, of course, the trade association are delighted.

Florent Lacilla: "I gave everything. It was a very intense and tiring few days," commented the newly-crowned world champion on his performance at the international technician competition.

Automotive mechatronics still has to deal with combustion engines. In Dresden, Florent Lacilla succeeded like a world champion.

Talents from all over the world in competition
The talents, who had traveled from a wide variety of countries, had to impress at five stations during the competition at the home of the German automotive trade.
The young professionals looked for faults and defects in the engine or suspension. Of the 23 participants, three others won a gold medal: Rank Hsu-Kun Chan from China, Stefan Missbach from Germany and Hannes Egger from Italy.

After the silver medal for carrossier Dominik Bartlome, this is already the second medal for the Swiss automotive industry at this year's World Skills Championships.
