Natural gas
Employees of Coca-Cola HBC Switzerland have taken delivery of the first 52 of a total of 180 vehicles.

In 2017, Coca-Cola HBC Switzerland even received an award from the Federal Office for the Environment for its exemplary environmental targets. In a five-year comparison, Coca-Cola HBC Switzerland reduced its CO2 emissions by eleven percent in the distribution of its growing beverage range.

Significant reduction in emissions
Now Coca-Cola HBC Switzerland is taking the next step and commissioning the largest CNG fleet in Switzerland. Patrick Wittweiler, Country Sustainability Manager at Coca-Cola HBC Switzerland, is responsible for sustainability: "By converting our vehicle fleet to CNG, we will again significantly reduce our CO2 footprint. To this end, both field staff and senior executives will be equipped with CNG company vehicles."

Vehicles from Audi, Skoda and VW
Coca-Cola's employees will all switch to CNG vehicles from Audi, Skoda and VW Commercial Vehicles during 2019. Reducing CO2 emissions is the main reason why Coca-Cola opted for CNG (meaning Compressed Natural Gas) in the mobility sector.
Fueled with fossil natural gas, a CNG vehicle emits around 25 percent less of the greenhouse gas CO2 than a car running on gasoline or diesel. And for the first 1,000 kilometers, each of Coca-Cola HBC Switzerland's 180 vehicles runs exclusively on biogas, making it virtually CO2-neutral.

Cooperation a milestone
Pascal Lenzin, the national coordinator for CNG & biogas mobility: "The cooperation with Coca-Cola is a milestone for our mission. CNG and especially biogas as a fuel can become a crucial part of the energy transition in the transport sector. This makes a CNG vehicle just as attractive for the energy transition as an electric vehicle."
