Environmental list: Gas models ahead

Gas right at the front
Gas models (this primarily refers to vehicles powered by natural gas/biogas, usually referred to as CNG or NGT by the manufacturers) are again the best performers in this year's environmental van list, achieving the highest rating of five stars.
Electric separate
Electric delivery vans are evaluated in a separate list for methodological reasons. According to the association, electric vehicles are significantly more environmentally friendly than petrol and diesel vehicles if they are powered by green electricity. However, the range of electric delivery vans on offer is still "modest" with only six models, according to the VCS.
Station wagons top of the league
Among the vans with the highest rating are mainly high-roof vans with gas engines such as the Fiat Panda Van 0.9TwinAir and Fiorino 1.4i models, the VW Caddy 1.4 BMT and the Opel Combo 1.4. The 2018 environmental list of vans can be found on the VCS website.
