Swiss Classic World: Le Mans winner in Lucerne 🎥

WHERE TO MEET The scene can breathe a sigh of relief. The Swiss Classic World from May 27 to 29, 2022 can be held without restrictions on the Allmend in Lucerne. More than 200 exhibitors and 15,000 visitors are expected.

One of the highlights is the Porsche 917-052 on display at this year's Swiss Classic World. In 1971, the car was in many respects an exceptional, highly regarded design with special stories and secrets.

The original Porsche 917-052 vehicle will be an eye-catcher at Swiss Classic World.

Spectacular victory at the 24h Le Mans
For example, the 917 weighed just 766 kilograms at the time, with a top-secret magnesium tubular frame and a new type of fin tail, and with a 4.9-liter twelve-cylinder engine and reinforced 5-speed transmission!

To reach the 800 kilograms of racing weight prescribed by the regulations, a 55-liter engine oil tank was then added. At the time, even the drivers didn't know exactly what kind of innovation they were driving.

The 917-052 was only in real racing action once, spectacularly finishing the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1971 with Dr. Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep at the wheel. In economically difficult times, the Stuttgart manufacturer also showed above all what was technically possible at the Swabian sports car manufacturer at the time.

Cooperation with the Swiss Museum of Transport
The provision of the 917 is also a further step in the cooperation between Swiss Classic World and the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. For visitors to SCW2022, a visit to the Swiss Museum of Transport is therefore also an option in addition to a visit to the Swiss classic car fair.
