Scania has been awarded the KS Energy and Environment Prize 2016 for the Scania P 320 hybrid truck (from left): Prof. Dr. Dieter Anselm (jury spokesman), Mikael Lundqvist (Director Strategy, Communication and Marketing, Scania Germany Austria) and KS President Peter Dietrich Rath.

Among other things, the jury of experts was impressed by the combination of zero-emission electric drive and the 9-liter Euro 6 engine with 320 hp. This not only represents a remarkable fuel saving, but also makes an important contribution to reducing the burden on the environment. This is because the 18-ton truck can cover short distances in noise-sensitive areas at night in all-electric mode. The hybrid has 320 horsepower and saves up to 18 percent fuel compared to a vehicle running on normal diesel. The distribution vehicle can run solely on electricity or in conjunction with pure biodiesel, such as FAME (fatty acid methyl ester) or HVO (hydrogenated vegetable oil). With HVO, CO2 reductions of up to 92 percent are possible. When the Scania hybrid truck is running in all-electric mode, the noise level is below 72 dB(A).
