Treads for all weathers: For campers who also travel in snow and ice in winter, all-season tires can make a significant contribution to driving safety.

Tire manufacturer Goodyear explains what camping fans should pay attention to so that everything runs smoothly with the trendy trailer. To drive safely on vacation, not only the tires of the towing vehicle, but also the trailer tires must have the correct air pressure. Holger Rehberg, product manager at Goodyear: "Caravans usually run on passenger car tires. The maximum permitted air pressure here is 3.5 bar. Caravan fans will find this specification directly on the tire wall." For a safe trip on vacation, the expert advises to also check the weight of the fully loaded trailer before starting. Because the caravan must not be overloaded under any circumstances.

Trend vacation caravanning: The number of newly registered caravans rose significantly in many European countries in 2015. Registration figures are also rising significantly in Switzerland.

Protection from sunlight and standing plates
Even when the vacationers have arrived at their destination of choice and the trailer is firmly parked on the pitch, care continues. For example, it is essential to protect the caravan tires from too much sunlight. Campers can, for example, place a cardboard in front of the tires. If the most beautiful time of the year is over and the caravan is not moved for months, there is a risk of a so-called flat tire: The trailer should be moved at least once a month by half a meter outside the camping season. For a good grip on the road, tires must have sufficient tread depth. The legal minimum is 1.6 millimeters.
