It is known that tolls have to be paid on many European roads. However, many countries charge additional fees on tunnels and bridges. Campanda the world's largest online platform for renting and leasing motorhomes and campers, has compared the fees of all 36 toll tunnels and 30 bridges in Europe. The most expensive bridge-tunnel combination is the Öresund Bridge between Malmö and Copenhagen. Motorhome drivers paid a whopping 104 euros there, while passenger car users paid 52 euros.

Highest tunnel fee exists in Italy
Compared to bridge use, tunnel tolls are cheaper. The highest tunnel toll is incurred in Italy on the way to France. For both the Mont Blanc Tunnel and the Fréjus Tunnel, passenger car drivers must expect to pay more than 45 euros, while 60 euros is due for travel in a motorhome. In third place among the most expensive tunnels is the Great St. Bernard Tunnel, which connects Switzerland with Italy: Passenger car drivers pay 27 euros, while motorhomes cost 42 euros.

The cheapest tunnel for cars in Europe is the German Herren Tunnel, with a charge of 1.70 euros. Motorhome drivers will find the cheapest tunnel in the UK, where 1.90 euros is charged for using the Kingsway Tunnel.
