AutoEnergieCheck: expanding support
RECOGNITION Garage owners and motorists are successfully saving energy and CO2. The Swiss Federal Office of Energy has therefore expanded its support for the AutoEnergieCheck. What should have been enough for two years was used up after just eleven months: the cost contributions from the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) to Swiss garage owners for the AutoEnergyChecks carried out on their customers.
The SFOE and the Swiss Automobile Industry Association (AGVS) have therefore decided to extend the contract, which runs until the end of June 2021, and to increase the funds for contributions to the services provided by garage owners.
Growing interest in the campaign
Markus Peter, Head of Technology & Environment at AGVS: "The fact that the funds have already been exhausted is proof of the growing interest of motorists in AEC. At the same time, it shows how diligently the approximately 1,200 registered AGVS garage owners are carrying out AECs and thus making a contribution to environmental protection. This support comes at just the right time for garage owners in the current difficult situation."
Environmentally friendly and energy efficient
This is good news for the environment, garages and car owners. The AutoEnergieCheck helps them to drive as environmentally friendly and energy-efficiently as possible. This saves CO2 and also money thanks to lower consumption. The average saving is around 200 liters of fuel or 300 francs a year.
Since the start of the AEC in 2012, the participating garages have carried out more than 80,000 AECs, enabling their customers to save around 90,000 tons of CO2. That is equivalent to a good 750 car trips to the moon and back or 15,000 trips around the world.
Check in a garage takes 20 minutes
During the 20-minute check, the AGVS garage mechanics check and, if necessary, increase the tire pressure and check the exhaust system, fuel system, air conditioning system and electrical consumers, among other things. They also inform the participating motorists about unnecessary ballast or unneeded luggage racks that increase fuel consumption.
