Auto Zürich: flood of premieres in Oerlikon

EVERYTHING WILL BE OK While renowned international automotive trade shows are currently suffering a massive decline in the number of exhibitors in some cases, Auto Zürich 2019 is succeeding in reversing the trend. Land Rover's Defender, which is popular in Switzerland, is completely new at Auto Zürich.

After absences last year, major manufacturers are returning to the largest automotive event in German-speaking Switzerland, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Mini. This development brings Auto Zürich an unprecedented flood of premieres.

Mercedes, Mini and BMW back in the game
With a record 40 Swiss premieres, Auto Zürich can report success even before the opening. Among the novelty stars are the most important premieres of the IAA Frankfurt this year. These include the long-awaited electric cars VW ID.3 and Porsche Taycan can be found in the Zurich exhibition halls, as well as the new edition of the legendary Land Rover Defender.

Unlike the IAA or the Geneva Motor Show in the spring, however, the Auto Zürich Car Show does not have to accept any cancellations. On the contrary: after a year's break, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Mini are returning to the exhibition halls in Zurich-Oerlikon.

Volkswagen's all-electric ID.3 is eagerly awaited for its Swiss premiere.

Reflection on roots of the event
This return to its former strength is also due to the fact that the organizers have turned their attention more strongly to the roots of the event and are once again relying more on the involvement of dealerships. Auto Zürich is thus returning to its roots as a garage exhibition.

The history of what is now the largest car show in German-speaking Switzerland began more than 30 years ago when a handful of garage owners decided to exhibit their new products together. This concept is obviously still convincing today. One can be curious.

The Auto Zürich Car Show will take place from October 31 to November 3 in the Zurich-Oerlikon exhibition halls.
