Seat is the brand with the youngest customers in the VW Group and, thanks to its increasingly sporty and innovative image among these same customers, is in a position to gather the next generation of buyers under the Group umbrella. Seat is enjoying its third successful year in a row, with a 22 percent growth rate so far in 2018,
Future design line of the brand
The Tarraco, which is offered as a five- or seven-seater, wants to be a true Spaniard, even though it is manufactured in Wolfsburg due to a lack of production capacity at the main plant in Martorell and the vehicle architecture of the Modular Transverse Toolkit. The Tarraco, whose name was decided by more than 100,000 friends of the brand via Internet voting, continues to draw Seat's future design line. Its nose is higher than that of the Ateca, which is intended to convey robustness and appear powerful. The headlights are nevertheless typical of the brand, as are the angled frames of the LED daytime running lights. Alloy wheels are available in sizes from 16 to 20 inches.
Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive as required
There are two gasoline engines, one with a displacement of 1.5 liters and 150 hp, the other with a volume of two liters and 190 hp. They reach torque peaks of 250 and 320 Nm. The two two-liter diesels are available in the same power levels, reaching 340 and 400 Nm. The entry-level engines are also offered with front-wheel drive, the more powerful ones exclusively with all-wheel drive. The combination with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is mandatory for them, otherwise six gears are shifted manually.
Expressive design in the interior
The Seat Tarraco is equipped with the virtual cockpit familiar from the premium segment. A horizontal line extending across the dashboard emphasizes the width of the Tarraco, reinforcing the impression of spaciousness in the interior. At the same time, it conveys a sense of safety and quality.
Individually configurable digital display
Also familiar from the premium segment in particular is the virtual cockpit with which the Seat Tarraco is equipped. The individually configurable digital display always provides the driver with the most important information directly in his immediate field of vision via a high-resolution 10.25-inch display. In addition, the Seat Tarraco has a movable 8-inch display that gives occupants access to the extensive connectivity functions.
Every six months comes new model
Meanwhile, the large SUV is not the last addition to the model range. Seat plans to unveil a new car every six months in the coming years. Above all, this includes the new generation of the best-selling Leon, which will dominate 2019. After that, there will be a plug-in hybrid version of the Tarraco, which is supposed to be particularly economical on the road despite 210 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The Spanish brand can expect its own electric car in 2020, which will be based on the brand-new Modular Electric Toolkit. Even before then, Seat wants to go on the offensive with gas-powered engines in particular.
