The Mini John Cooper Works GP is completing set-up runs on the Nordschleife in these weeks.

Although there is still plenty of time for fine-tuning before the market launch next year, the new extreme sports car boasts lap times that are almost half a minute below the best mark of its predecessor.
With its high engine output and chassis tuned to John Cooper Works know-how, weight-optimized design and special aerodynamic properties, the little Brit sets new performance benchmarks for small cars.

Lap times under eight minutes
The fact that Mini is reaching new dimensions with has already become more than clear in the tuning runs so far. On the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the predecessor model with a lap time of 8:23 minutes was previously considered the benchmark. The prototype has already lapped the "Green Hell" in less than eight minutes. And its test program is not yet over. A four-cylinder powertrain with more than 300 hp and TwinPower Turbo technology provides tracking power and a distinctive sound.

Comparison with the predecessor models
The prototype of the Mini John Cooper Works GP completes the demonstration drives together with its predecessor and with the Mini Cooper S with John Cooper Works GP kit launched in 2006. The character of the models is based on the concept of using the sporty genes of the Mini to develop a vehicle focused on driving fun.
