IAA 2021: Audi shows automotive freedom 🎥

Like a private jet for the road, the Grandsphere combines luxury with a new experience.
As the second of three Sphere concept vehicles from Audi - after the Skysphere Concept roadster - the Grandsphere occupies a special position. Like a private jet for the road, the 5.35-meter sedan combines the luxury of private travel with a new on-board experience.
The dimensions of the concept car with its 23-inch wheels identify it as a representative of the luxury class. The wheelbase of 3.19 meters is longer than that of the long-wheelbase version of the A8. Automated driving at Level 4, i.e. without steering wheel, pedals and displays, is intended to open up a new world of experience.
In the first row of seats, there is maximum space, an unobstructed view and access to all the functions of the digital system into which the concept car is integrated.

First steps into a brave new car world
Many of the technologies and design features shown in the study will soon be found in upcoming production Audis. Numerous service topics can be opened up through the integration of digital services.
For example, the automated driving Grandsphere already picks up its passengers with information about the destination and independently takes care of finding a parking space and charging the drive battery.
Wood, wool, synthetic fabrics and metal
The doors are counter-hinged, front and rear, without a B-pillar. The positions of the driver and front passenger are automatically detected and personal comfort features are set for the respective seat.
Clearly structured zones of high-quality materials such as wood, wool, synthetic textile fabrics and metal can be seen and felt as wall coverings, seat coverings and floor carpets.
Fast charging and range of 750 kilometers
The central element of the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform is a battery pack that provides around 120 kWh of energy. The Quattro concept in the Grandsphere has one electric motor each on the front and rear axles, which implement all-wheel drive in a perfect balance of driving dynamics and economy.
The engines generate a total output of 530 kW and a torque of 960 Nm. Thanks to the 800-volt charging technology, the car can be charged in a very short time with charging powers of up to 270 kW. Audi quotes a range of more than 750 kilometers.
