Karting: Great day for new winners

In contrast to the season opener in Pavia, the Swiss kart drivers did not have to travel far for their second championship round. The TCS circuit in Lignières above Lake Biel pushed some drivers to the physical limit as the many fast corners released high centrifugal forces, which even former GP2 champion Fabio Leimer felt over the distance. "I'm knackered. Now I'm going to treat myself to a beer," he said jokingly about the strain. At the second event after his comeback to karting, where he last raced as a teenager ten years ago, the man from Aargau already showed all his class. He kept his toughest opponent Yannick Kläy in check in both heats and in the final of the new OK Senior class, narrowly but skilfully.

Isabelle von Lerber proved what a strong woman she is. The 22-year-old from Berne beat all 19 competitors in the KZ2 final and celebrated her first victory in the top class of the karting championship. She now also leads this class. Sven Müller made steady pressure, but found on this special track without risk no way past her. The fastest man was Paul Hökfelt, who set the best times in qualifying (98.94 km/h average) and in the race. After problems in the preliminary race, the Pavia winner worked his way up to third place.
SM run victory as a ten-year-old
In the Super Mini, the junior class with 60cc engines, Elia Sperandio, just 10 years old, was the greatest. On the last lap, he overtook Alessio Fagone, who had been leading for a long time but had been given a time penalty, and was thus also in the lead at the finish of an SM race for the first time. In the X30 Challenge, Norick Lehner was unable to counter the attacks of the suspiciously fast Hicham Mazou in the final. For control both engines were pulled in. Savio Moccia won the X30 Juniors.
