It's been a long time: The last time an ePrix started was on February 29 in Marrakesh.

The historic airport will be the venue for the final races of the current Formula E season on August 5/6, 8/9 and 12/13. On each of these three double headers, a different track layout will be implemented on the site, resulting in different strategy options for the teams and drivers.

Strict safety requirements
The three double-header events in Berlin bring the total number of races completed in the sixth Formula E season to eleven. Formula E and the FIA have worked out a plan in close consultation with the teams and local authorities to conclude the championship in this unconventional way.

Strict safety measures are in place to minimize risk. These include races that take place without spectators at the track and to which only essential employees and racing drivers travel.

In accordance with German government guidelines, a maximum of 1000 people will be on site at any one time, including local suppliers and medical support teams. All other activities will be carried out remotely.

The airport grounds in Berlin-Tempelhof allow for different track variants. Sébastien Buemi led the field there last year. He won with Renault eDams in 2016 and 2017 (Photos: Sam Bagnall / LAT Images).

Five races before the lockdown
Formula E had already completed five rounds before the season was temporarily suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. The four currently best-placed drivers in the championship are separated by less than a single race win in terms of points. Antonio Felix da Costa from DS Techeetah currently leads the overall standings.

However, the Portuguese driver is only eleven points ahead of his closest rival Mitch Evans (NZ) from Team Panasonic Jaguar Racing. Everything will therefore be at stake when the series resumes in Berlin.
