Chief mechanic Dominic Etter gives a tour of the various departments.
The cinematic tour of the state-of-the-art racing facility in Safenwil, which was occupied only three years ago, takes us through various departments. The film was made shortly before all our lives changed.
On display, for example, are the clinically clean electronics room, the transmission department, and the modern racing simulator in which team boss Lorenz Frey himself goes on a virtual drive. Pit stops are practiced daily on the Emil Frey Jaguar, which is no longer in use, as well as on the current cars. And the drivers keep in shape in the fitness room.
Only test drives so far
Emil Frey Racing's racing season was actually scheduled to get underway on the third weekend of April in Monza. However, the start of the GT World Challenge Europe, in which the Safenwil-based team will field two Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO cars in cooperation with the factory, has been delayed indefinitely due to the Corona crisis.
Emil Frey Racing was just able to take part in the test drives at Le Castellet on March 12 and 13 before a virtually Europe-wide lockdown followed, which also brought all racing activities to a standstill. Since then, the collected data has been evaluated in Safenwil and implemented in the further preparation of the two GT3 sports cars. It now remains to be seen patiently when they will be put into action.
