According to the current planning status, 10,000 spectators will be allowed to visit the race track on Saturday and Sunday, September 5 and 6, 2020, to experience the traditional duel between Audi and BMW live on the 4.5-kilometer circuit in the Netherlands.
Longest grandstand in Europe
In order to comply with the necessary hygiene and safety measures and, above all, the minimum distance of one and a half meters, the space available is limited. The stands are strictly allocated separately according to the arrival - by car or by public transport.
Lee van Dam, CEO LPD International: "As the organizer of the DTM race in Assen, we have created a Covid 19 plan in cooperation with our partners. A big advantage is that the TT Circuit Assen offers a lot of space. We have the longest grandstand in Europe, where we have the possibility to host 10,000 fans per day while maintaining the minimum distance of 1.5 meters, with parking at each grandstand, direct access to each sector and fixed seating."
Because paddock access is still not permitted and visitors will also have to do without the popular show acts for the time being, the ticket price has been adjusted from normally up to 79 euros to 49 euros for adults.
Fans also at other races?
What this means for the other events after Assen, such as the DTM finale at Hockenheim in November, which is also popular with many Swiss, is left open by the DTM organization.
Gerhard Berger 1st Chairman ITR: "We can hardly wait to finally welcome spectators back to the race track. The DTM started the season strongly at Spa-Francorchamps and a gratifyingly large number of spectators followed the racing action on TV and online platforms. But a race needs enthusiastic fans in the grandstands - not only at Assen, but hopefully also at further DTM races in 2020."
The highlights from the second DTM race in 2019 give a nice impression of the TT Circuit in Assen and its gigantic grandstands.
