Thanks to the consistently good conditions, Aegerter and his team were able to try out many things on the Yamaha.

Although not all the riders entered for the 2021 Supersport World Championship were present at the official test, all the top teams did not miss this opportunity. Dominique Aegerter and his Ten Kate Racing team, however, were the yardsticks over the past two days at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Even not expected
The 30-year-old pro bike rider from the canton of Bern raised eyebrows at the first opportunity when he led the first session of the test on Monday afternoon with the Yamaha YZF R6, before rounding off the opener perfectly as the fastest rider of the day.

The stable and good conditions also allowed further increases in terms of lap times on Tuesday, which again led to the best time of the day.

Dominique Aegerter: "To be honest, I didn't expect this debut in the Supersport World Championship. Ten Kate Racing worked hard all winter to give me this bike. The two days were excellent in all respects. We were on a par with the competition at all times. Above all, we are consistently strong over the distance with used tires. However, on a single fast lap we still have some catching up to do. In the end, though, we were right at the top of the timesheets. I'm particularly pleased about that."

Still a lot of work
Nevertheless, the Swiss, who also continues to compete in the Moto-E World Cup, is by no means confident of victory.

Dominique Aegerter: "We still have a lot of work ahead of us. First and foremost, I still have to get used to this class a lot more and also learn to understand the bike and the tires even better. However, we still have five test days before the first race on May 23 in Aragón, where we can continue to prepare well."

  2. Jules Cluzel (F), GMT94 Yamaha / Yamaha YZF R6, 1:44.355
  3. Randy Krummenacher (CH), EAB Racing Team / Yamaha YZF R6, 1:44.717
Dominique Aegerter already feels very comfortable on the Yamaha and in the Dutch team. The picture is from the presentation in December 2020.
