Germany: exceptional year without hill climbs

HOPE ON AUSTRIA As in Switzerland, there will not be a single automobile hillclimb race in Germany in 2020 and thus no title award. The specialists can only hope for a race in Austria. In the middle of this week, the last organizer remaining in the race calendar of the German Hill Climb Championship and the KW Hill Climb Cup has also laid down its arms. For a long time [...]

At that time, distance rules and race cancellations were still unthinkable. In the middle of this week, the last remaining organizer in the race calendar of the German Hill-Climb Championship and the KW Hill-Climb Cup has also laid down its arms. The Erftaler had long delayed their decision and now the mountain race Eichenbühl from 12 / 13 September for 2020 due to the planning uncertainty canceled without replacement. The Gurnigel hill climb should have taken place on the same weekend in Switzerland.

Austrians wait
With the cancellation of the ADAC hillclimb race Mickhausen from the first weekend in October, there will be no hillclimb champion in Germany for the first time since the Second World War. Thus, only the Upper Austrian hill climb Esthofen-St. Agatha, which should also be part of the Berg DM this year, is still on the race calendar.

Should it actually be able to be held (planned for September 26/27), quite a few Swiss drivers can be expected to start there as well as many ravenous Germans. Last year Marcel Steiner was the fastest with his LobArt-Mugen in St. Agatha.

Race director Markus Altenstrasser: "We from MSC Rottenegg with all our members are ready to offer the drivers and spectators a great motorsport experience again. Now we have to wait and see if our dear politicians give the green light in June."
