Team Audi Sport (gallery left) helped shape the rally to the end despite various setbacks. The Audi drivers led the race in Saudi Arabia with the prototype for three days for the first time. However, a series of punctures, the accident-related retirements of Carlos Sainz, Lucas Cruz, Stéphane Peterhansel and Edouard Boulanger as well as a big time loss for Mattias Ekström and Emil Bergkvist prevented a better result than 14th place.

Rating motorcycles and trucks

The Can-Am Maverick XSR Turbo of Poland's Eryk Goczal and his Spanish co-driver Oriol Mena took first place in the SSV class. The Dakar Classic victory went to the Spanish duo of Juan Morera with co-driver Lidia Ruba in a Toyota HDJ 80.
