With 322 race starts, the 40-year-old Spaniard ranks second in the sport's all-time list of best drivers. His palmarès includes 32 victories, 97 podium finishes and two world championship titles with the Renault F1 Team in 2005 and 2006.
Successful comeback
After a two-year break from Formula 1, Alonso delivered a convincing performance this season. His fourth place at the Hungarian Grand Prix was not only his best result since 2014, but also made a significant contribution to Alpine's first victory in Formula 1. This was achieved by Esteban Ocon on August 1 in Hungary, the last GP before the summer break.

Alonso has collected 38 points so far this season. He himself is very happy to confirm the extension of his contract with the Alpine F1 Team until 2022.
