Porsche: The power comes with charging trucks

KNOW HOW Whether Track Experience on racetracks or Ice Experience in Finland: the Taycan is an integral part of Porsche's customer driving programs. However, sufficient infrastructure is not available everywhere. That's why Porsche has created an innovative solution: its own fast-charging trucks, which bring the charging infrastructure with them on a mobile basis and as required. With one connected load, ten Taycans can charge simultaneously at maximum speed.

Porsche has therefore created an innovative solution: its own fast-charging trucks, which provide the charging infrastructure in a mobile and needs-based manner.

Just a few days ago, the Hungaroring in Budapest was the venue for a special Porsche Track Experience. "Soul on Track" offered customers the opportunity to test the Taycan on a racetrack. These driving events present organizers with special challenges.

Own charging system and buffer storage
Because when a number of Taycans need to be charged at maximum speed at the same time, the local infrastructure is often not sufficient. Seven mobile charging trucks with a specially developed charging system and buffer storage were therefore created. Porsche brought in the Nürtingen-based company ads-tec as a partner.

Electricity directly from photovoltaic systems
With a connected load of 3.2 megawatts, ten Taycans can charge simultaneously at maximum speed.

The battery buffer storage system has a capacity of 2.1 megawatt hours. This can be used to charge up to 30 Taycans. This is usually refilled using renewable electricity from the power grid.

At a three-week customer event in Portimao, Portugal, in November 2019, for example, the electricity came directly from the nearby photovoltaic systems.

The trailers can be recharged very quickly - under good conditions, the trailer is fully charged again within four hours.

Track Experience driving programs
Since the 2020 season, the first all-electric Porsche has been a permanent part of the Porsche Track Experience driving program, where it is used in e-warm-up training, for example. At the Porsche Ice Experience, it is part of the "Ice Experience" and "Ice Force" levels.
