Peugeot: First kilometers with the 308

LIMOUSINE OR COMBI After an eight-year run, Peugeot's 308 and 308 SW mid-size models are now being relaunched, following the tried-and-tested pattern: classic body shapes in a handsome design and with tried-and-tested Group powertrains. Peugeot 308
The new 308 bears the refreshed brand logo in the radiator grille. This gives the Frenchman a striking appearance.

The new Peugeot model pair 308 and 308 SW (gallery on the right) is based on a further development of the EMP2 platform, which is still available to other models in the Group as a basis.

This will result in more generous body dimensions and also the possibility of introducing electrified powertrains and new assistance systems.

More space for passengers in the rear
In addition to the gasoline and diesel versions, hybrid versions are also available for the sedan and station wagon. The hatchback version has grown by eleven centimeters to 4.36 meters, the station wagon by six centimeters to 4.64 meters.

At the same time, more space was created for rear passengers and luggage: 412 plus 28 liters in the sedan, 608 to 1634 liters in the station wagon.

Active, Allure and GT with Pack Packages
Apart from the new front end, most of the other body parts have also been redesigned, and new wheel designs are available in 16- to 18-inch dimensions. Five versions are available for both the hatchback and the estate: Active, Allure and GT with Pack packages.

Inside, the Peugeot is quickly recognizable by the brand-typical i-cockpit with a small steering wheel. The instrument cluster above the steering wheel is optionally available with a digital display in 3D hologram look. Fully configurable, touch-sensitive i-toggles below the 10-inch touchscreen replace the traditional display and control elements.

Gasoline, diesel or plug-in hybrids
The pure combustion engine options are the 1.2-liter Pure Tech turbo gasoline and the 1.5-liter Blue HDI diesel, each with 130 hp. However, the electrified powertrains are much more agile.

The two PHEV power variants deliver 180 and 225 hp, which are transmitted to the front wheels via the e-EAT8 8-speed automatic transmission. The 12.4 kWh battery and the 100 kW electric motor of both models enable an electric range of up to 60 kilometers.

Power difference of the drives
On the road, there is a clear difference in performance between the two hybrids. The PHEV 225 variant is sporty, while the PHEV 180 is more relaxed - and more committed to the promise of efficiency.

In terms of price, the 308s start at 28,500 francs (Pure Tech 130 Active Pack), a diesel costs at least 30,300 francs (Blue HDI 130), and hybrid models are available from 38,000 francs (PHEV 180 Active Pack).
