Indy
The Maserati Indy had flip-up headlights, which were considered the absolute ultimate at the time.

The car was delivered to the then Swiss importer Martinelli e Sonvico in Chiasso.
A few days later, the new owner, a Swiss businessman, was able to take delivery of his Indy in Oro Metalizzato paint and brown leather interior.

Production record with 700 vehicles
The Maserati Indy was unveiled at the 1968 Turin Motor Show on the Carrozzeria Vignale stand before officially making its Maserati debut the following year at the Geneva Motor Show.
In 1968, Maserati had set a new production record with around 700 vehicles and had a market share of 43 percent in Italy in the segment for vehicles with over 3.5 liters of engine capacity. The model range at the time consisted of the Ghibli, Mexico, Mistral, Sebring and Quattroporte.

Four-seater coupé from Carrozzeria Vignale
In response to customer requests for a particularly comfortable yet powerful touring sports car, Maserati decided to develop a new vehicle: the AM116 project (Alfieri Maserati 116).
So Carrozzeria Vignale was commissioned to design a four-seater coupe that combined comfort, sporty performance and an innovative appearance. The result was the Indy, named in honor of the Maserati 8CTF's victories in the Indianapolis 500 miles in 1939 and 1940.
