Tuning: BBS offers extended limits

PERSONAL NOTE With the new wheel adapter system BBS Unlimited, BBS eliminates previously set limitations and at the same time enables increased individualization - for every vehicle with 5-hole application.

BBS Tuning wheel adapter system
BBS wheels CI-R Unlimited in white gold with red collision protection ring in concave 2 are mounted on this BMW M2.

The BBS CI-R Unlimited base wheels, manufactured in 5×117.5 bolt circle, are available in three sizes 19, 20 and 21 inches, nine jaw widths from eight to twelve inches and four concaves. Ten bolt circles from 5×100 to 5×130 can be mapped using hub adapters.

The offset can even be easily adjusted at a later stage using a hub adapter. Centering rings in 18 hub diameters are available for a perfect fit. This makes the wheel available for almost all vehicles with 5-hole connection.

CI-R Unlimited is available in eight colors

Using precision-fit wheel hub adapters and centering rings, the BBS CI-R Unlimited is adapted to the 5×112 bolt circle of the BMW M2 of the current G87 model generation. This results in an offset of 23 millimeters at the front and 22 millimeters at the rear. The BBS CI-R Unlimited design is available in eight colors. For further individualization, bumpers, hubcaps and valve caps are available in numerous designs and colors. Titanium wheel bolts round off the portfolio.

IAA Mobility 2032: Better vision with the four rings 🎥

ALL IN SIGHT After six years, it is time for a model update of the Audi Q8. The most important innovation is the Matrix LED headlights with laser light. In addition, there are new wheels, colors and decorative inlays.

Just in time for the IAA Mobility in Munich (until September 10), Audi is upgrading its Q8 and giving it a model update. In addition to visual touch-ups inside and out, the SUV coupé also gets HD matrix LED headlights in combination with laser light for the first time. There is also digital daytime running light with four selectable light signatures. Digital OLED taillights, also with four individual designs, complete the lighting range. Find out how it all works in the video.

Audi Q8 innovations
The front of the Q8 features your powerful single-frame octagonal design.

Striking and puristic design

The Q8 was and still is a very expressive SUV with a striking and purist design. Even after the facelift, it continues to be very dynamic, thanks to the generous surfaces and small shapes. Short overhangs and a long wheelbase also contribute to the sporty look. The front features the powerful single-frame in an octagonal design with vertical inserts. In the basic version these are arranged vertically, while in the S-Line they are L-shaped.

Instead of chrome black/white rings

The new Q8 also bears Audi's new corporate identity. This refers to the two-dimensional rings that will be seen on the Q8 e-tron for the first time. Instead of chrome, the four rings are in white and black. Those who buy an optional package can also order the rings in a shade of gray instead of white and black.

With the facelift, the equipment program for the Q8 has also been refined once again. The seams on the seat trim are now also available as standard in the base model in the contrasting color gray. There is also a choice of nine décor inlays. The following options are new: Fine-grain ash natural silver, carbon body matte and aluminum linear silver gray.

Three new paint finishes are also on offer - Sakhir Gold, Ascari Blue and Chilli Red. Just the way you like it.

Mercedes-Benz: Star parade in the Engadine 🎥

CLASSIC MEKKA At the international St. Moritz Automobile Weeks, Mercedes-Benz Classic will be presenting exceptional classic cars such as the Nürburg 460 St. Moritz.

The 540 K streamlined car from 1938, a 300 SL Coupé built in 1955 and a Sauber-Mercedes C 9 from 1989 start at the Kilomètre Lancé on the grounds of Engadin Airport in St. Moritz. The St. Moritz Automobile Weeks of 1929 and 1930 already included a kilometer race, a Concours d'Elegance and, as a highlight, the Bernina Gran Turismo.

The Kilomètre Lancé of 2023 will also take place along historical lines (please note the video), but now on the 1.8-kilometer runway of Engadin Airport, 1707 meters above sea level. Here, the drivers can demonstrate the acceleration capacity and speed of their classic cars. The C 9 will be driven by brand ambassador Bernd Mayländer, the driver of the Formula 1 safety car.

Special show known winners

At the special "100 Years of Le Mans" exhibition, the Stuttgart carmakers are bringing together the winning 300 SL racing sports car, which won the endurance classic in France in 1952, and the Sauber-Mercedes C 9, which contributed second place to the Silver Arrows' one-two victory in 1989. The Bernina Gran Turismo hill climb will feature a 1968 Mercedes 280 SL Pagoda. This competition has been held since 2014 as a hill climb for classic motor sports vehicles from the pre- and post-war period up to 1990.

As part of the current International St. Moritz Automobile Week, it takes place on a closed section of the original route. On the 5.7 kilometers from La Rösa to the top of the pass, there are more than 50 curves and 450 meters of altitude to negotiate.

Special Sport Convertible St. Moritz

As early as the first St. Moritz Automobile Week in 1929, Mercedes took part with an impressive vehicle, a four-seater "Special Sports Cabriolet" with a short wheelbase - based on the noble Nürburg 460 presented in 1928. At that year's Concours d'Elegance, it achieved "the best score of all the cars presented there by the most renowned international brands," according to the original brochure. Following this success, this version of the Nürburg 460 Cabriolet C was given the name St. Moritz.

Emil Frey Racing: Fight for a podium position

EVERY POINT COUNTS This month, Emil Frey Racing is hitting the ground running - one race weekend follows the next. Now the focus is on the start of the sixth round of the DTM championship.

Emil Frey Racing DTM Championship
In good conditions important data could be collected with the Ferrari 296 GT3.

After a successful test day and the motivation of the first DTM victory in the luggage (AutoSprintCH reported), the Swiss team is looking forward to the next two DTM races next weekend. So far, Emil Frey Racing has only known the Sachsenring with last year's car, the Lamborghini Huracán GT3. In good conditions, the team has now been able to collect data with the Ferrari 296 GT3 and cover a lot of kilometers - and is well prepared to fight for a podium place again.

Many challenges

The Sachsenring has been an integral part of the racing calendar for many years and is particularly well known for its exciting MotoGP races. But GT3 racing also finds its joy on the 3671-meter-long circuit, which poses many challenges for both man and machine with a gradient of up to almost 13 percent and a ten-percent incline. The longest straight is the start-finish straight at 780 meters, but there are also good overtaking opportunities down to the Sachsenkurve or back to the start-finish.

Currently in seventh place

Emil Frey Racing is currently in 7th place in the championship standings after its DTM victory at the Lausitzring. With only 17 points behind the top 5, the chances of achieving a good position in the inaugural year in the DTM are good.

Lorenz Frey-Hilti, Team Principal: "We're coming straight back from the Sprint Cup at the Hockenheimring to the Sachsenring for the DTM. We showed very strong pace at Hockenheim and certainly could have done better. We're building on that. With this knowledge from testing, I'm confident that we'll be able to achieve further good results."

The sixth DTM round of the season will take place from September 8 to 10. The weekend kicks off with two free practice sessions on Friday at 11.10 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. for 45 minutes each. An early qualifying session on Saturday at 9.05 a.m. will determine the grid for the race on the same day, which will start at 1.30 p.m.. On Sunday, qualifying will also take place at 9.05 a.m., with the race again following at 1.30 p.m.

Bugatti: Luxury Summit in Molsheim

RECOGNIZING BOUNDARIES For the first time, Bugatti has brought together well-known brands and renowned experts for a Luxury Summit to discuss the future of luxury in a changing world.

Bugatti Luxury Summit
This picture of an older model was taken at the Luxury Summit hosted by Bugatti.

The Luxury Summit at Bugatti's headquarters, Château Saint Jean in Molsheim, was designed as a forum to discuss current developments, but also to jointly shape the future of luxury. At the château, once purchased by Ettore Bugatti to house his clients, luxury experts and heads of leading luxury brands gathered to discuss the future of luxury. The fitting place for the meeting.

Modernity and sustainability

The moderator and host was Rebecca Robins, author and expert on brands, luxury and culture. In his opening keynote, Professor Ashok Som showed how the Covid 19 pandemic has changed the mindset of consumers and how luxury brands need to adapt. The bottom line: the way customers engage with brands today is changing faster than ever before.

In the panel discussion, Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac, Daniela Ott and Manuel Mallen, CEO of Courbet, addressed the topic of sustainability. Among the topics discussed were how brands are dealing with the fact that sustainability has become a core component of the modern luxury world, from environmentally friendly materials to full traceability in the production of a product.

More efficient and predictable

Summing up the day's insights into the world of luxury fell to the keynote speaker, luxury expert and researcher Hannes Gurzki. His closing presentation highlighted what will always make a luxury brand - they are paradoxes: a brand must be rare, but growing; innovative, but steeped in tradition; physical, but digital; global, but local; and data-driven, but people-centric. In a world where AI can make many areas more efficient and predictable, it is the surprising human aspects that will make exceptional luxury products stand out.

Tesla: Here's how the Model 3 is coming

CARE IN DETAIL Tesla's affordable, high-performance Model 3 played an important role in accelerating the transition to electric mobility. Now the car has been further optimized in key details.

Tesla 3 revised
Tesla's Model 3 rolls up with only a slightly modified body after the upgrade.

Six years after its presentation and four years after its launch in Europe, Tesla is now bringing the Model 3 with a major upgrade. The revisions bring even more comfort and quality to both the rear-wheel drive model and the 4×4 variant. Further improved aerodynamics, new front and rear lighting, and a redesigned interior further enhance the vehicle. The two colors Ultra Red and Stealth Grey are also new.

Upgraded interior

The cocoon-like interior now features premium materials such as real aluminum, upgraded textile fabrics, and a fine finish. Personalizable ambient lighting is designed to set the mood for the ride, and ventilated front seats are fully integrated with automatic climate control, as are heated seats in all seating positions. The interior is now quieter than before thanks to 360° acoustic glazing, improved suspension bushings and sound-deadening materials. Two wireless charging docks for cell phones are also located on the redesigned center console with aluminum trim and plenty of storage space. Tesla has also redesigned the audio system with studio-quality sound at every seat.

Haptic switches and buttons

The steering wheel levers have been replaced by haptic switches and physical buttons. The central 15.4-inch touchscreen in the middle is the same size as before, but now offers even more usable space thanks to a narrower bezel. It has a personalizable user interface and will be further improved over time with over-the-air updates....

The Model 3 Upgrade will start in Switzerland at prices starting at 42,990 Swiss francs. Deliveries of the Model 3 with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive will start at the end of October.

IAA Mobility 2023: This is the future of Mini

GROWTH The Mini family is getting two new members: the all-electric Mini Cooper with three doors and its signature design, and the Mini Countryman with more space, comfort, safety and all-wheel drive.

Mini Cooper future
The shoulder section gives the new ones from Mini a decidedly athletic appearance.

The new Mini family, which will be on display at the IAA Mobility until September 10, is designed to take the brand's user experience into a new era. The design language Charismatic Simplicity stands for this transformation. It combines Mini's traditional values with innovations and reduces vehicle design to the essentials. This includes short overhangs, short hoods as well as long wheelbases and large wheels. The visual tripartition, the wraparound window area and the contrasting roof are also designed to make recognition easier at first glance.

Range up to 402 kilometers

The 135 kW (184 hp) electric motor of the Mini Cooper E achieves a torque of 290 newton meters (Nm) and accelerates the vehicle from a standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. With 160 kW (218 hp), the Mini Cooper SE sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with a maximum torque of 330 Nm. The range determined in the WLTP test cycle is 305 kilometers for the Mini Cooper E and 402 kilometers for the Mini Cooper SE.

Slim generous dashboard

In the interior, the design of the front area quotes the minimalist design of the classic Mini with a slim and generous dashboard and the multifunction steering wheel for that typical Mini go-kart feeling. The central display sets a new standard with its high resolution and adds to the presence of the 240-millimeter-diameter round instrument. The new Mini Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated by calling out "Hey Mini.

Countryman grew in size

Higher, longer, Mini - with an additional six centimeters in height (to now 1656 mm) and thirteen centimeters in length (4433 mm), the new Mini Countryman has visibly grown. Wider wheel arches and the modern, clear design enhance the crossover aesthetic.

The 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor of the Mini Countryman E achieves a torque of 250 Nm and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. With 230 kW (313 hp), the e-motors of the all-wheel-drive Mini Countryman SE All 4 achieve a combined torque of 494 Nm and accelerate the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The range determined in the WLTP test cycle is up to 462 kilometers for the Mini Countryman E and up to 433 kilometers for the Mini Countryman SE ALL4.

IAA Mobility 2023: Porsche 911 as a sculpture as tall as a house

THERE'S STILL MORE To the nearest centimeter, a 911 built by Porsche for the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich (until September 10) is 38 meters long, 15.60 meters wide and 7.50 meters high.

Porsche statue IAA Mobility
The sculpture can be used of the 911 up to ten years.

The reusable roof construction is a tribute to the sports car icon: Because exactly 60 years ago, the 911 also celebrated its premiere at the IAA (then still in Frankfurt). The leitmotif of the Porsche stand in the bustling center of Munich is the 60th anniversary of the 911.

Symbol for many stories

Ragnar Schulte, Head of Experiential Marketing at Porsche: "The 911 is world-famous for its unique silhouette. For us, this sculpture is above all a symbol of the many stories and experiences of enthusiasts, fans and customers that have shaped the 911 worldwide. With its appearance, Porsche wants to make a contribution to making the IAA attractive - our concept goes beyond that of a classic trade show booth."

911 S/T, Taycan and Mission X

On display at the stand is the latest 911 variant, the special 911 S/T model limited to 1963 units (left gallery). Next to the Taycan (center gallery) is the Porsche Mission X (right gallery). The concept car is a reinterpretation of a hypercar with Le Mans doors that open upward and a newly developed electric drive.

IAA Mobility 2023: This is the big Renault Kangoo 🎥

LOTS OF SPACE With the Grand Kangoo, Renault is presenting the long version of the Kangoo at the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich (until September 10), which is also available with a fully electric drive as an option.

Up to seven full-size seats and up to 3750 liters of cargo volume make the new Grand Kangoo and Grand Kangoo E-Tech 100% electric practical vehicles for everyday work and family life.

The seats in rows two and three can be individually moved, folded, reclined and removed. This allows a wide range of seat configurations. For example, the middle seat in the second row can be removed. As a seven-seater, the Renault Grand Kangoo offers 500 liters of luggage compartment volume.

The third-row knee room of 16.4 centimeters is best in class. The sliding doors, which are wider than those of the Kangoo, make it easier to get into the very back.

Grand Kangoo Renault
Orders for the Kangoo will start at the end of 2023, with deliveries beginning in early 2024.

Gasoline, diesel or electric

Two engine options are available for the Grand Kangoo that meet Euro 6E emission standards: a 130-hp turbocharged gasoline engine with 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 95-hp turbodiesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission.

The Grand Kangoo E-Tech 100% electric is powered by a 90 kW (122 hp) synchronous motor. The maximum torque of 245 Nm is available from the start. The electric motor draws its energy from a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 45 kWh. The flat power storage unit enables a range of up to 265 kilometers in the WLTP test cycle. The range can be extended by using the Eco mode. In the particularly energy-efficient driving program, the output of the electric motor is reduced to 56 kW (75 hp) and the top speed is limited to 110 km/h.
