TAG Heuer: Special Edition in honor of Ayrton Senna

REMEMBER Exactly 30 years ago, Ayrton Senna became the youngest Formula One driver to win the World Championship three times. TAG Heuer and the Senna brand present a new special edition to mark the occasion.

Special Edition Senna
TAG Heuer commemorates a legendary racing driver with the Formula 1 Senna Special Edition

On November 3, 1991, Ayrton Senna crossed the finish line first at the Australian Grand Prix, scoring his sixth victory of the season and winning the Formula 1 World Championship. The Brazilian driver dominated the supreme discipline of racing, becoming world champion in 1988, 1989 and 1991.

With the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Senna Special Edition watch, TAG Heuer commemorates one of the most legendary racing drivers in the history of Formula 1 and once again celebrates its partnership with the Senna brand.

Stainless steel buckle on black leather strap
A special feature of the watch is the embossed black leather strap; it refers to the S/EL strap that Senna wore on his TAG Heuer. This bracelet was the first produced by TAG Heuer itself. The S-shaped design is highly recognizable.

Equipped with a black stainless steel lock and double security pushers, the leather strap looks particularly dynamic thanks to the contrasting yellow stitching. Prices are available on request.

Both cars were adapted and converted to manual operation by specialists from Veigel.

In the future, wheelchair users will be able to enjoy mobility with plenty of drive power and hone their driving technique on Austria's Grand Prix racetrack and in the Driving Center with two Porsche models that have been fully converted to manual operation.

Together with motorsport expert Reini Sampl, prominent athletes gave the starting signal for the "Mission Handgas" at the Red Bull Ring. PS fans can find all the information about the driving experience at Spielberg at this Link.

Pure power with 350 or 420 hp as desired
The Red Bull Ring is thus primarily aimed at people with paraplegia. From winter 2021, wheelchair users at Spielberg will be able to choose between a 718 Cayman S (350 hp) and a 718 Cayman GT4 (420 hp) all year round.

Both cars were adapted to the needs of wheelchair users by specialists from Veigel and completely converted to manual operation.

KW suspensions: Tesla drivers are new target group

BETTER HANDLING Suspension specialist KW Automotive has developed a chassis for the Tesla Model Y with adjustable compression and rebound damping. The Variant 3 coilover suspension for the electric SUV is now available.

KW chassis
Within the scope of the parts certificate, the Model Y AWD can be steplessly lowered

For more and more Tesla models, KW Automotive is developing coilovers with adaptive and manually adjustable dampers. While Model S and Model 3 coilovers are already available, now coming to the Essen Motor Show (Nov. 27-Dec. 5) is the stainless steel KW coilover Variant 3 for the Model Y.

The compact electric SUV benefits from optionally adjustable suspension in compression and rebound damping, especially in handling and in supporting the high body structure. In the case of the rear-wheel-drive Tesla Model 3, for example, the electromobility specialist Nextmove from Leipzig proved that the installation of a KW coilover suspension even increases the range by up to seven percent in conjunction with the standard wheel-tire combination.

Stepless lowering by 25 and 50 millimeters
Within the scope of the parts certificate, the Model Y AWD can be steplessly lowered between 25 and 50 millimeters on both axles by the coilover suspension.

A coilover suspension for all Model Y cars with rear-wheel drive is already in preparation. This will be available in spring 2022. The German-made coilover variant 3 will be offered at a price of 3120 Swiss francs.

Tuning with two-stage multi-valve technology
The KW dampers used for the all-wheel-drive Tesla Y, which weighs up to two tons, feature two-stage multi-valve technology that allows the damping forces to be tuned.

KW Brand Manager Jonas Ehrmann: "With Variant 3, we use low-speed and high-speed valves for the compression and rebound forces. We were totally surprised by the high demand for coilovers. Since we also offer a suspension for the Model 3, we are appealing to a completely new target group that previously never considered buying a coilover suspension or modifying anything at all on a production vehicle."

Volkswagen: R duel at the Circuit Anneau du Rhin 🎥

Wherever there's an R on a Volkswagen, there's pure power under the hood. The R versions are the brand's sportiest models. However, everyday practicality does not fall by the wayside.

Jasmin Preisig accompanies Flavio in the Golf R, Benjamin Leuchter supports Oliver in the T-Roc R.

Volkswagens with the letter R on the rear are wolves in sheep's clothing. A concept that also excites Oliver Malicdem and Flavio Zwahlen. As a VW Ambassador, Oliver drives a T-Roc R with 300 hp, Flavio a 320-hp Golf R - the latter being an anniversary model, namely the 250,000th R produced.

Driving Experience
Parade of performance versions of the Golf Variant, Tiguan, Touareg T-Roc, Golf and Arteon.

Driving Experience from Volkswagen Switzerland
The two want to experience the limits of their compact Wolfsburgers under the guidance of experts. No sooner said than done. They take part in a Driving Experience by Volkswagen Switzerland, where all variants of the R series are available - in addition to the two models mentioned, the performance versions of the Golf Variant, Tiguan, Touareg and Arteon.

The venue is the Alsatian race and test track Anneau du Rhin between Mulhouse and Colmar, where Swiss pilots of various categories often start or train on the winding track.

Safety comes before speed
Before the driving fun, however, there's a round of theory. Instructors give tips and reveal tricks for safe and fast driving. Equipped with balaclava and helmet, the circuit is explored on the first slow laps. Also on site are factory driver Benjamin Leuchter from Germany and Swiss driver Jasmin Preisig, because the day has a special highlight in store for the two of them.

Oliver and Flavio want to compete in a duel with their own cars. As coaches, Jasmin Preisig takes a seat in Flavio's Golf R, Benjamin Leuchter sits next to Oliver in the T-Roc R (center gallery).

Clear advantage through torque vectoring
Without any further introduction, both drive as fast a lap as possible. Flavio is three seconds ahead with a time of 1:41 minutes. Oliver is at the start with a handicap: The competitor's car not only has 20 hp more power, but also better aerodynamics than his sporty SUV.

And above all, the Golf R has torque vectoring, which distributes torque not only between the front and rear axles, but also between the two rear wheels. The T-Roc R can't quite keep up with that.

Potential for improvement in braking
The supposed disadvantage only spurs Oliver on even more. He listens attentively to the professional racer's driving tips. And he learns that he has room for improvement, especially when it comes to braking, i.e. he can put the pedal to the metal later before corners. Benjamin Leuchter, who performs the set-up tests for the R models on behalf of VW, knows exactly what the 17-inch braking system has to offer.

Getting through the curves as round as possible
With Flavio and Jasmin Preisig, the curves are the big issue. The VW ambassador, who drives a Golf GTI TCR in endurance races, tells her protégé to concentrate even more on the apexes.

Jasmin Preisig: "When you drive more roundly, it requires less steering intervention. That not only makes you faster, but the car also comes through the curve more safely."

The coaching works: On the next timed lap, both are significantly faster. In the end, victory goes to Flavio and his Golf R by the narrowest of margins: he crosses the finish line in 1:36 minutes, just one second faster than Oliver in his T-Roc R.

Škoda: The eighth Azubi Car is in the works

ORIGINAL UNIKATE 25 apprentices from the Škoda vocational school in Mladá Boleslav have started work on the eighth Azubi Car. The Škoda Academy is thus continuing a tradition that has been in place since 2014.

Škoda Academy
The 25 apprentices are tackling another concept car this year. We can look forward to it.

Every year, Škoda vocational trainees design their own dream car - of which there is only one at a time - and then have it built. They are currently discussing possible components and materials for the eighth Azubi Car with their instructors and with members of the Board of Management.

Maren Gräf, Board Member for Human Resources: "The Azubi Car project enjoys a very good reputation and is a flagship for our company and the promotion of young talent. For the vocational students, participation is a great experience."

Presentation to the Board
The project, which is unique in the Czech Republic, offers the specialists of tomorrow a unique opportunity to demonstrate their skills in cooperation with production, design and other specialist areas.

This gives the trainees an insight into all relevant areas of the company. They learn to work in a team and on a project basis, to combine planning and practical implementation, and to present their work to members of the Executive Board.

Engine, materials and design
At the start of work on the eighth Azubi Car, the trainees also had numerous online meetings on their agenda. By using digital technology, they were also able to prepare necessary decisions during the pandemic, because even in the early stages of the project they had to agree on the engine, body shape and materials, as well as the design and colors.

Spider for the 125th anniversary
In 2020, the apprentices had transformed a Škoda Scala into the Spider Slavia, and at the same time commemorated the company's beginnings with the chosen name to mark its 125th anniversary.

The 2019 Škoda Mountiaq pickup and the 2018 Sunroq SUV convertible are other one-offs.
