Lexus: Warranty over 185 000 kilometers

SERVICE TO THE CUSTOMER With Lexus Premium Care, Luxury is increasing the scope of its warranty coverage. Effective July 1, the service-activated 10-year warranty has been extended to an industry-leading 185,000 kilometers.

Lexus Warranty
The new service offering brings further improved performance for Lexus customers.

Lexus' Premium Care package combines the 10-year warranty with the new service-activated warranty. This service is included at no extra charge with every new car purchase and also for every existing Lexus customer.

The offer applies not only to all new vehicles, but also to models in the Lexus range already on Swiss roads, up to a maximum of ten years and new 185,000 kilometers.

Offer is bound to the vehicle
The service-activated 10-year warranty is extended by one year or 15,000 kilometers following the factory warranty, with each service. Even in the event of a service interruption, the warranty becomes active again after a one-month grace period, as soon as the customer has another service performed by his Lexus partner. The offer is tied to the vehicle. The warranty is therefore transferable when the vehicle is sold, thus strengthening its resale value.

Demand for quality and reliability

Christian Wellauer, Director Lexus Switzerland, on the new Premium Care offer: "With a ten-year warranty for customers in Switzerland, Lexus underscores its commitment to quality and reliability. Combined with attractive service packages at our trained Lexus partner network, it's an offer that leaves nothing to be desired."

Škoda: Electric at the Tour de France 🎥

SUSTAINABLE Since 2004, Škoda has supported the Tour de France as official main and vehicle partner. This year, Tour Director Christian Prudhomme is using an Enyaq iV as the lead vehicle.

Once again, Škoda is accompanying the Tour de France as the official main and vehicle partner. 250 vehicles will provide mobility for the organizers and race management of the Tour de France or will be used as support and service vehicles.

The vehicle fleet also includes the purely battery-electric Enyaq iV, which Tour Director Christian Prudhomme uses as the lead vehicle on 16 of 21 stages. He waves the yellow flag through the sliding roof of the Red Car at the start of the stage. In addition to the Enyaq, Octavia and Superb iV models are also in the convoy.

Enyaq iV Tour de France
The Enyaq fleet is equipped with tires from Continental that use additives made from recycled materials.

Distance of 3300 kilometers through four countries

Environment: Five stars for the Four Rings

SUSTAINABLE According to an assessment by Green NCAP, the Audi Q4 e-tron is the only vehicle from a group of six candidates to achieve the highest five-star rating.

Green NCAP
The battery-electric SUV Audi Q4 e-tron scored a total of 28.7 points

In the current Green NCAP environmental test, which was conducted in accordance with stricter requirements, vehicles of various classes and drive types were tested with regard to the categories of pollutant emissions, energy efficiency and greenhouse emissions. The testers were able to award a maximum of 10 points per category. Only the Four Rings model was able to achieve the full score. The battery-electric SUV from the Ingolstadt-based carmaker scored a total of 28.7 points.

Hyundai, VW, Renault, Peugeot, Genesis
The Hyundai Bayon 1.0 T-GDI with mild hybrid support follows at a clear distance (12.9 points), the VW Caddy 1.5 TSI (12.6 points) and the Renault Kangoo TCE 130 (12.1 points) were each awarded 2.5 stars.

The Peugeot 308 with the 130 hp three-cylinder achieved a 2-star rating with 11.7 points. One star was awarded to the Genesis GV70 with the 320 hp 2.5 liter gasoline engine. The SUV scored only 4.1 points. Here, the high consumption had a negative impact on the rating.

Greenhouse gas emissions assessment
Green NCAP has updated its assessment criteria to a Well-to-Wheel+ consideration in 2022. Not only the measured tailpipe emissions (wheel) are taken into account in the evaluation of greenhouse gas emissions, but also the emissions resulting from the extraction, production and distribution of energy (well).

The "+" means that the construction of power plants and refineries is also counted. However, vehicle and battery production are not yet included in the assessment.

Hyundai: First appearance of the Ioniq 6 🎥

AND IT CONTINUES After the Ioniq 5, it has now taken quite a while for Hyundai to pull the sheets off the next electric car.

But now the time has come and the manufacturer has at least shown the design of the new electric car before all the details of the technical specifications are presented on July 14, 2022. But there are already rumors about an Ioniq 6 Shooting Brake and a sporty Ioniq 6 N.

Hyundai Ioniq 6
At 2.95 meters, the wheelbase of the Ioniq 6 is slightly shorter than that of the Ioniq 5.

Shorter, flatter and significantly longer
At 295 centimeters, the Ioniq 6's wheelbase is slightly shorter than that of the Ioniq 5, but it is significantly flatter at 1.50 meters and considerably longer at 486 centimeters.

The front end of the 6 Series is pleasingly styled; the smooth hood slopes down to the front bumper, which - as on vehicles from the 1970s and 1980s - has a wide black stripe. However, this does not serve as impact protection; instead, various sensors are concealed behind it.

Wheels dimensions 18 or 20 inch
The side section flows into a gently sloping rear end, which is rounded off by two eye-catching spoilers and a horizontal light strip. The flowing forms contrast with relatively hard-edged front and rear bumpers and the angular 18- or 20-inch wheels.
Metal pedals, leather and fine fabrics

The generous interior offers ample space in the front and rear, and the driver's seat can assume a reclining position. Metal pedals and a choice of leather and fine fabrics make for an almost luxurious travel experience. When the camera-based exterior mirrors are specified, the dashboard is adapted accordingly.

Power range of up to 585 hp
Hyundai is still keeping quiet about the powertrains, but the platform is already clear: It is the E-GMP architecture with rear- or all-wheel drive, which enables a power range of up to 585 hp.

A corresponding model would then bear the N logo, but it has not yet been decided whether Hyundai will expand the range that far upwards.

Scania: Electric trucks for medium tours 🎥

TOTALLY AS NEEDED On its electric mobility roadmap, truck manufacturer Scania is now presenting a new model line designed specifically for daily use and medium delivery distances.

From now on, Scania will offer customers new electric models every year. Vehicles for inner-city delivery traffic are now joined by battery-electric trucks for regional transport.

The new model series with a battery capacity of 624 kWh is available with R or S cabs. It offers companies many possible uses in regional applications.

Scania electric truck
Electrically powered Scania 45 R long-haul semitrailer tractor with 4×2 axle configuration.

No performance disadvantages in everyday life
The new electric generation is based on classic cornerstones such as modularity and sustainability. The vehicles are on a par with conventional models in terms of performance and range in their respective areas of application. But the switch from conventional to purely electric trucks is still complex. Scania therefore supports customers in all areas of e-mobility.

Fredrik Allard, Senior Vice President and Head of Electrification at Scania: "This range of solutions makes Scania a one-stop shop for companies that want to take responsibility."

Up to 400 kilometer range
With the new Scania trucks, customers can operate chassis or combinations of tractor and trailer, for example for temperature-controlled food transport. The ranges vary depending on weight, configuration and route.

A 4×2 tractor unit with six batteries, for example, can travel up to 320 kilometers on a full battery charge at an average speed of 80 km/h, and up to 400 kilometers is said to be possible for an average Swiss transport job.

The continuous power is 560 hp
The charging power is up to 375 kW. This means that one hour of charging time is enough for an additional range of 270 to 300 kilometers. The continuous power of a Scania 45 R or S is 410 kW (560 hp).

The new electric trucks can be ordered through local Scania branches from July 11, 2022, with production starting in the fourth quarter of 2023.

BMW: Power Touring M3 packs 510 hp 🎥

FASTER LASTER For the first time, BMW is offering the 3 Series Touring as an M3. Visual features include more pronounced wheel arches and ventilation gills. The powerplant is the familiar three-liter inline six with 510 hp.

Starting in September, BMW will offer its sixth-generation M3 for the first time as a Touring estate version at a price of around 127,400 Swiss francs.
The model is fitted with 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the rear as standard. Inside, there are two large displays with M-specific content, and carbon bucket seats can be ordered as an option.

BMW M3 Touring
The BMW M3 Touring will be available to order from September. Prices start at 127,400 Swiss francs.

From 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds
The drive is provided by a three-liter in-line six-cylinder engine with 510 hp and 650 Newton meters of torque, which, in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission, accelerates the all-wheel-drive 1.9-ton truck from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and to a maximum speed of 280 km/h.

The all-wheel drive system is rear-heavy. In addition to the 4WD mode as standard, the driver can alternatively choose between 4WD Sport or 2WD. In conjunction with deactivated ESP, the latter setting is intended to maximize the drifting capabilities of the station wagon with its 1510-liter luggage compartment.

Nordschleife record at the Nürburgring
Even before its official debut, the BMW M3 Touring made headlines a few days ago when it set a record on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife. It completed its lap in 7 minutes and 35.060 seconds. This was about 10 seconds faster than the previous record holder, the Mercedes-AMG E63 S. When it was driven, the BMW M3 Touring still had a camouflage cover.
