Kia: The EV9 makes last secret laps

NO PARDON Kia's engineers forgive the EV9 nothing in secret tests. The tests include off-road passages including water crossings. In addition, the comfort tuning is adjusted on cobblestones.

Kia EV9
Despite the cover, the front of the Kia EV9 is already clearly visible.

The SUV was first unveiled as a concept vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year. The brand's new flagship is to be unveiled in the first quarter of next year and will not differ significantly in appearance from the nearly 4.95-meter-long study, which has a wheelbase of 3.10 meters.

Range of around 540 kilometers
Most recently, Kia spoke of a range of around 540 kilometers. Provided there is an appropriate charging station, it should be possible to recharge the battery for up to 100 kilometers within six minutes.

The SUV with three rows of seats is said to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in five seconds.

Front seats can be rotated 180 degrees
How much of the EV9 Concept's functional interior will be retained in series production remains to be seen. In the study, the front seats could be turned 180 degrees and the middle row folded down to form a table. The rear row can also be turned in the opposite direction to enjoy the view from the open tailgate.

In addition, the exhibit featured, among other things, camera-based exterior mirrors and electrically retractable roof rails, as well as doors that opened in opposite directions.

Formula E: Abt backs Nico Müller and Robin Frijns

COMEBACK For three years, Robin Frijns and Nico Müller were teammates in the DTM at Abt, and now the racing team is bringing the two together again. This time for a return to Formula E.

Formula E Nico Müller
Robin Frijns and Nico Müller will compete for Abt in Formula E in 2023.

Abt is relying on a well-established team in Formula E next season. Robin Frijns and Nico Müller formed a successful team at Audi Sport Team Abt in the DTM from 2018 to 2020 (Gallery).

Both also have electric experience; together they have already completed 91 races in Formula E.

Desired lineup for 2023 season

Hans-Jürgen Abt, Managing Partner of Abt: "Robin and Nico were our absolute dream team right from the start, because they bring everything we need for our Formula E comeback: speed, experience and the right spirit. If we want to hold our own against the big factory teams in the new season, we need a small, powerful team. And Robin and Nico fit in perfectly."

Open account with the formula E
The family man from Blumenstein BE, who has been newly married since this week, is not only looking forward to Formula E, but also to Frijns.

Nico Müller: "I simply had a great time with Robin on and off the racetrack - I think there are some good ingredients here that put us in a good position for this new challenge. Personally, I still have a score to settle with Formula E anyway after my difficult year and a half, and I'm delighted to have the chance to settle it together with this team."

New generation of vehicles at the start
On January 14, 2023, the Formula E World Championship will start its ninth season in Mexico City with a completely new generation of vehicles. Abt was a founding member of the series and competed in every race in the first seven years.

The biggest successes include winning the first race in Formula E history on September 13, 2014 in Beijing, Lucas di Grassi's driver's championship in 2017 and winning the team championship a year later. Still a private team from 2014 to 2017, the Kempten-based company took over the operation of the race cars for Audi from 2017 to 2021.

Abt Sportsline is relying on customer cars from Indian automotive giant Mahindra for its return to Formula E. As a founding member of Formula E, the company is equipping another team with customer cars for the first time.

Renault: Kangoo as Motel Hippie Caviar

SHOWCAR The Hotel Hippie Caviar is followed by the Motel Hippie Caviar, another milestone in Renault's travel vision. The show car based on the Kangoo E-Tech Electric is a mobile accommodation for adventurers.

Hippie Caviar
This is what a mobile motel from Renault looks like for a trip to the sports vacations.

The new touring show car is fully electrically powered, contains numerous components made from recycled materials and thus blends seamlessly into the natural environment. It will be unveiled at the IAA Transportation in Hanover on September 19.

The comfort of a 5-star hotel
Last year, Renault presented the Hippie Caviar Hotel show car, based on the Trafic, in response to the growing desire for travel and freedom. It offers the opportunity to contemplate nature at close quarters while enjoying the comfort and amenities of a 5-star hotel.

To meet these needs on the market, the Renault Trafic Space Nomad was launched in July - the first converted model version available directly from the Renault product portfolio.

The basis is the Kangoo L2 E-Tech Electric
Renault is now moving on to the second chapter of its product strategy with the Hippie Caviar Motel show car. The van based on the Kangoo L2 E-Tech Electric is an agile and robust accommodation for adventurous people who like to move around outdoors.

The Motel Hippie Caviar is designed as a base camp that can move effortlessly from one place to the next. It offers a 90 kW electric motor and a range of 285 kilometers with the 45 kWh battery. It can be recharged for 170 kilometers in 30 minutes.

The bench becomes a comfortable bed
Several storage compartments make it possible to store sports equipment inside and outside the vehicle, and the roof is equipped with a luggage rack for skis. The fold-down seat bench becomes a comfortable bed.

The show car is also an example of Renault's strategy to reduce CO2 emissions throughout the entire product life cycle. In addition to the all-electric drive, this includes the shelves and the floor made from recycled tires and cork.

Bugatti: W16 Mistral - the wind is godfather 🎥

FINALE Since the launch of the Veyron in 2005, the W16 engine has been at the heart of every model from Molsheim. Now the W16 era is coming to an end - with the new Bugatti W16 Mistral, the ultimate hypersportscar roadster.

For a model as important as the last W16, Bugatti considered very carefully what designation it should bear. After all, this roadster is more than just a further development of the Chiron.

The powerful wind that blows from the Rhône Valley through the cities of the Côte d'Azur to the Mediterranean Sea served as inspiration. And since the drive is so central to the character of this roadster, it stands side by side with this wind: W16 Mistral.

Bugatti Mistral
The W16 Mistral is the last model with the legendary 8-liter engine.

With 1600 hp, there is power in abundance
The W16 in the new model is based on the final version of the 1600 hp engine first used in the Chiron Super Sport 300+. The existing monocoque of the Chiron has been reshaped to create a rounder silhouette without compromising performance.

The Bugatti Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid built in 1934 served as an important inspiration for the W16 Mistral. That's why the W16 Mistral also debuts in a paint finish inspired by the Type 57: a warm black with hints of truffle brown and yellow accents.

Interplay of elegance and excitement
To keep the side section of the body slim and at the same time allow optimum air supply to the W16, Bugatti separated the side oil cooler inlets from the engine air intakes. These now sit directly behind the occupants' headrests. They again cite the Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid as well as the first open Bugatti of modern times: the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport.

To achieve the unmatched interplay of elegance and excitement, the W16 Mistral features the latest technical solutions. Bugatti's composite materials are combined with titanium and aluminum 3D printing to achieve a striking design and robust reliability.

Only 99 examples of the W16 Mistral will be built at a price of €5 million each. Delivery will begin in 2024, but the entire production run has already been sold out.

Dodge: Charger Daytona SRT with E-Power 🎥

LOOKING INTO THE NEW WORLD With the Charger Daytona SRT Concept, Dodge is showing the new development direction for performance-oriented sedans. Instead of large internal combustion engines, battery and electric motor are also used here.

The concept study Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept comes with a completely new technical design, but wants to remain true to some principles. According to the manufacturer, the car should look like a Dodge and also drive like a Dodge.

Some new technical details could be introduced for this: The front end is particularly aerodynamic thanks to the R-Wing design element, the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system provides performance sound, and the e-Rupt transmission is electromechanically shifted. The 21-inch wheels are particularly aerodynamically shaped

Charger Daytona SRT
The all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona SRT concept car is reminiscent of the iconic 1968 Charger.

Electric charger with 800 volt system
Visually reminiscent of the 1968 Charger, the new electric Charger is powered by an 800-volt system. However, no indications of the drive power and driving dynamics are given yet.

The sporty cockpit features a central 12.3-inch screen, a curved 16-inch instrument cluster and a head-up display. The rear seat backrests fold flat to create space for plenty of cargo.

Lamborghini: Urus Performante is fastest SUV 🎥

RECORD With the Urus Performante, Lamborghini is once again raising the bar for driving dynamics. The new model impresses with its powerful appearance, which underscores the technology of the super sports car.

Ahead of its debut, the Lamborghini Urus Performante set a new record in the production SUV category on the Pikes Peak Hill Climb course. With multiple European hillclimb champion Simone Faggioli at the wheel, the Urus crossed the finish line at 4302 meters above sea level in 10:32 minutes, beating the previous record set in 2018 by around 18 seconds.

The Lamborghini Urus Performante sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds

Improved cooling of the engine
An even sharper hood and bumper design underscores the supersport characteristics of the new Performante while maintaining the Urus' signature elegance.

The new front air intakes provide improved engine cooling and fully express the SUV's supercar heritage. Massive overweight is avoided by the extensive use of composite materials.

The new Performante is now 20 millimeters lower and its track is 16 millimeters wider. The carbon wheel arches arch over optional 23-inch or forged 22-inch alloy wheels with titanium bolts and specially developed Pirelli tires.

Trained athlete with more horsepower
The output of the V8 biturbo engine has been increased by 16 to 666 hp and its weight reduced by 47 kilograms, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 3.2 kilograms per hp. It has a torque of 850 Nm. Torque distribution is optimized by a new differential.

For example, the new Urus accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and brakes to a halt from 100 km/h in 32.9 meters. With a top speed of 306 km/h, the car sets standards in terms of longitudinal dynamics.
