DS: Swiss model reveals the No. 3 🎥

DETAILED CARE The B-premium DS 3 SUV is now also getting a comprehensive update for the new model year. Just like its bigger brother, the DS 7, the DS 3 is no longer called Crossback.

DS Automobiles is using the start of Paris Fashion Week as an opportunity to unveil the new DS 3. As a long-standing partner of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, the brand's creators chose the event in the French fashion capital.

Swiss model and brand ambassador Andrea Brotschi unveiled the new city SUV at a photo shoot (pictured below).

Striking changes especially of the front
The new DS 3 presents itself with a new look. The most obvious developments concern the front end. The typical design language is adopted, among other things, by the redesigned radiator grille, which has been widened and, depending on the model, features glossy black or chrome-plated diamonds.

The DS Wings have also been redesigned to harmoniously combine the radiator grille and headlights. The new LED headlights - standard across the model range - give a more dynamic appearance with three functional modules accented by satin chrome.

DS 3
New for the DS 3 is a more powerful electric motor for the E-Tense variant with a range of up to 402 kilometers.

There are now seven body colors to choose from
The new DS 3 is offered in seven body colors. New and exclusive is the Diva Red color. Silk Gray, Crystal Gray, Platinium Gray, Artense Gray, Perla Nera Black and Polar White complete the range.

There is the option of a two-tone paint finish with a Perla Nera Black roof or the new Karat Gray.

Pure Stromer with a range of 402 kilometers
The all-electric version, the DS 3 E-Tense, features a new 115 kW (156 hp) electric motor and a new 54 kWh battery that provides a range of up to 402 kilometers on the combined WLTP cycle.

The new DS 3 will be built exclusively in Poissy, in the Paris region, with an electric or combustion engine (gasoline or diesel). Both the engines and the new electric motor and battery with increased capacity are assembled in France.

Porsche: Linseed oil protects the 356 Bonsai

ART CAR American artist Daniel Arsham has taken on a Porsche for the third time. The result is the 356 Bonsai. With this project, Arsham takes a bow to Japanese craftsmanship.

Porsche 356 Bonsai
The 1955 Porsche 356 is clearly showing signs of aging. Nevertheless, it is in top shape.

The basis is a Porsche 356 Speedster from 1955, whose traces of use were gradually uncovered by American artist Daniel Arsham.

The body paint was completely stripped, the original paintwork including decades of touch-up attempts removed. This revealed weld seams, scars and age-related wear. A layer of linseed oil now protects the raw metal.

Bronze relief of a bonsai above the engine
While the exterior of the 356 Bonsai appears to be worn, it is drivable without restriction, as all functionally relevant components have been restored to their original delivery condition by restorers.

On the grill above the rear engine, Arsham added a patinated bronze relief in the shape of a bonsai tree.

Japanese denim for speedster soft top
The interior is furnished with traditional fabrics. Originally, Japanese technique was used to mend work clothes so that they could be worn longer. The natural traces of wear are preserved.

As a final fabric, Arsham and his team produced a Japanese denim for the Speedster's skimpy soft top. And under the spare wheel in the trunk is a Japanese tatami mat made of rice straw, which is often laid as flooring in Japanese living spaces.

Lamborghini: Trademark twelve-cylinder engine

LEGENDARY Lamborghini celebrates its V12 engine. The power plant has powered the brand's iconic models over nearly 60 years of history. For example, the Murciélago, which debuted in September 2001.

Murciélago
Murciélago means bat in German. The same name was given to a bull that survived the bullring.

Even at the premiere of the Lamborghini Murciélago, the engine, which had been enlarged to 6.2 liters, developed a maximum output of 580 hp. The new model was the first Lamborghini to be designed entirely using the CAD-CAM system. This guaranteed particularly high planning accuracy and enabled significantly higher production quality.

The Murciélago's aesthetic was created entirely in the new design department, Centro Stile Lamborghini. This was headed at the time by Luc Donckerwolke, who had already redesigned the Diablo, but for the Murciélago had the rare privilege of starting with a blank drawing board for both body and interior design.

From 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds
At the time of its creation, the Murciélago was only available as a coupe and with a 6.2-liter engine. With this, the vehicle accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reached a top speed of 330 km/h. In 2004, the coupe was supplemented by a roadster version.

The second generation, officially called the Murciélago LP 640-4, was introduced in 2007 and produced until 2010 with a V12 upgraded to 640 hp at 8000 rpm.

This was followed by the Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster with a manual top and an engine enlarged to 6.5 liters with 650 hp. In 2009 and 2010, the 670-4 Super Veloce with 670 hp and a top speed of 341 km/h was also produced.

With manual transmission and all-wheel drive
All Murciélago models were equipped with all-wheel drive. The Ferguson viscous differential could send up to 70 percent of the torque to the rear axle. The chassis consisted of carbon components together with an aluminum composite platform structure.

The chassis was completely revised with a new suspension and geometry. The Murciélago was also the last V12 Lamborghini to be equipped with a manual transmission. Later, an automated transmission was offered as an option, with gear changes via shift paddles behind the steering wheel.

Mercedes-AMG: Almost like Formula 1 🎥

DOUBLE POWER The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance is powered by the world's most powerful four-cylinder production engine. With two liters of displacement, it achieves 500 kW (680 hp) together with the electric motor on the rear axle.

Mercedes-AMG sees the new C 63 S E Performance as a gamechanger in the brand's 55-year history. With know-how from Formula 1, it brings motorsport technology to the road.

An electric motor installed on the rear axle supports the 2-liter turbocharged engine mounted longitudinally at the front, which produces an impressive 238 hp per liter. This makes it the most powerful production engine in the world.

With its four-cylinder gasoline engine and electric motor, the AMG C63 S E Performance produces an immense 500 kW (680 hp).

To get the torque buildup as spontaneously as possible, a 150-kW electric motor bridges the turbo lag of the combustion engine. The battery operates at 400 volts and, as in Formula 1 with direct cooling, is designed to deliver and absorb power quickly.

The system output of the hybrid drive is 500 kW (680 hp), and the combined maximum torque is 1020 Nm.

Sedan and station wagon on sale
Other highlights of the new model, which is being launched simultaneously as a sedan and an estate, include fully variable all-wheel drive with drift mode and active rear-axle steering. The eight Dynamic Select driving programs are precisely tailored to the new drive technology. They thus offer a wide-ranging driving experience from efficient to dynamic.

Air outlet distinctive identifying feature
The sedan and estate are based on a modified AMG body-in-white. The front end is 50 millimeters longer and the front fenders are wider. In length, both versions measure 83 millimeters more, and the wheelbase grew by ten millimeters.

The new distinguishing feature is the narrow air outlet in the center of the hood. It merges smoothly into the two power domes. Typical AMG elements are the specific radiator grille and the front apron in jet-wing design. Flics, large inlets and air curtains direct the airflow specifically to its various functions.
