Ford: Emission-free 8-seater

ONE FOR ALL The new Ford E-Tourneo Custom is a people carrier with all-electric drive and superior space. The body design and the equipment with variable seating positions are also attractive.

Ford E-Tourneo
Ford's E-Tourneo Custom is a versatile, high-performance electric van.

The new generation of the Tourneo Custom is driven purely electrically. Ford Pro presents the E-Tourneo Custom, the top model in the successful series that enjoys great popularity among families and commercial customers. The locally emission-free multifunction vehicle in the 1-ton payload segment is based on a new platform and offers space for up to eight people. It combines high suspension and noise comfort with a powerful e-drive with a range of up to 370 kilometers.

Variable interior
Features include a flexible mounting system for the rear seats, sliding doors that slide open and closed without contact, a powerful sound system from B&O, digital key cards and a large glass roof. The innovative tilt steering wheel converts into a handy holder for a laptop or serves as a small table when the vehicle is stationary. The market launch of the new E-Transit Custom in Switzerland is scheduled for mid-2023. Ford will announce sales prices and equipment details a little later.

Freedom and adventure electric
The E-Tourneo Custom uses the same battery cell technology as the all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup model. The battery provides a net 74 kWh and enables the electric motor to deliver 160 kW (218 hp) of power. Single-pedal driving is possible with the E-Tourneo in most traffic situations. At a 125-kW fast-charging station, the battery can be filled from 15 to 80 percent in just over 41 minutes. Ford's Pro Power onboard system supplies up to 2.3 kW of power to the socket in the passenger compartment.

Also a towing vehicle
The newcomer hooks up trailers weighing up to two tons and combines this with a considerable payload. The model is available with two wheelbases and three rows of seats. A seating package with a double passenger seat for as many as nine people is available on request. Among the striking interior details is the rail system for the seat mounts in the second and third rows, which offers versatile arrangement options.

BMW: A special 3.0 CSL with 560 hp for the anniversary 🎥

FOR REAL FANS BMW's M GmbH is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a particularly exclusive model reminiscent of the legendary model from the 1970s.

To mark its 50th anniversary, the Bavarians are launching a strictly limited special series. There will be 50 consecutively numbered BMW 3.0 CSLs of the modern era, which are intended to reflect the character of the historic prototype from the 1970s. The body elements made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic will be handcrafted by specially assigned body construction specialists.

BMW 3.0 CSL
The elements of the body for the 3.0 CSL anniversary model were made from carbon fiber-reinforced plastic.

CSL means coupé, sport and lightweight construction
The CSL is based on the M4 and is marketed as a separate model. The three letters still stand for coupe, sport and lightweight construction. The power-to-weight ratio of the BMW 3.0 CSL is just 2.9 kilograms per horsepower. In the prototype it was more than twice as much. Propulsion is provided by the 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder engine specially developed for this model, with a new best value of 560 hp.

Deactivation of the driving stability control
The engine revs up to 7200 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 7200 rpm. Power is transmitted via six-speed manual transmission to the rear axle, which has an active limited-slip differential. The M Traction Control function also allows the driver to vary the intervention of the wheel slip limitation. Ten levels are available for this purpose, and complete deactivation of the driving stability control is also possible.

Body design as for the 3.0 CSL
The 3.0 CSL follows its role model not only in terms of technical conception, but also in terms of color scheme and body design. The most striking feature is the rear wing enclosed at the side. On top of that there is a roof spoiler and mighty flared fenders. The forged light-alloy wheels in 20- or 21-inch format (front/rear) are fitted with Michelin tires developed exclusively for the vehicle and bear the embossed number 50 on the tire sidewalls.

Day of the garagists: The car - fascination with future 🎥

WHERE TO MEET At the next Day of Swiss Garage Owners, Tuesday January 17, 2023 in the Kursaal Bern, experts will explore central questions about the car, its current situation and its future.

Among other things, how the automotive industry intends to transport the fascination of the car from the combustion engine to the electric car and thus into the current century. This is a task that involves a great deal of responsibility and is of particular interest to the members of the Auto Gewerbe Verband Schweiz (AGVS).

A large part of future business models depends on how successfully manufacturers and, last but not least, garage owners succeed in ensuring this transfer of emotions via fascinating models and cutting-edge technology.

Day of the garage owners
Thomas Hurter: "We are convinced that the fascination for the car will remain with us in the future."

Practical and convenient means of transportation
Background: Almost three quarters of all passenger kilometers in Switzerland are driven by car. No other means of transportation comes close to matching its importance. This also has to do with the fact that the car is immediately available, practical and, what's more, convenient, and its flexibility is superior to all others.

But the car has always been more than just a means of transportation - and that hasn't changed to this day. The automobile fascinated yesterday, it fascinates today - and it will continue to fascinate tomorrow.

The car will keep the high status

Thomas Hurter, AGVS Central President: "The program of the largest trade event in the Swiss automotive industry is entitled 'The Car: Fascination with a Future'. With this, the AGVS wants to send a self-confident signal. It is a matter of standing up responsibly but also clearly for motorized individual transport and appreciating the value it has for the economy and society. We have no doubt whatsoever that the car will continue to be highly valued in the future. We are convinced that this fascination for the car will remain with us in the future, as will its high system relevance."

At the start of the Swiss election year 2023, the theme of the conference is also intended to draw attention to the contradiction that, despite immense progress in technology, safety and ecology, the car is still under particularly great political pressure.

Thomas Hurter: "We want to and must counteract this pressure."

Vignette: Swiss continue to pay 40 francs

DON'T FORGET From December 1, 2022, the new freeway sticker will be available. It has the basic color yellow. The year on the adhesive side is red, the year on the front side is white. The toll sticker costs 40 francs.

Vignette 2023
Removal and reattachment of the vignette on the same or another vehicle is prohibited

The vignette, which is valid until January 31, 2024, can be obtained as usual at gas stations and garages, at post office counters and at road traffic offices and customs offices. Vehicle drivers are requested to remove expired vignettes from the windshield to avoid possible obstructions to visibility.

Always stick vignette directly on window
In order for the vignette to be valid, it must be affixed directly to the vehicle in the prescribed location without the use of other materials: on the inside of the windshield in the case of passenger cars, and on an easily accessible and non-replaceable vehicle component in the case of trailers and motorcycles.

Introduction of e-vignette in the course of the year
The e-vignette will be introduced in the course of 2023, certainly not until after January 31, 2023. The Federal Council will decide on the exact date of introduction in the first quarter of 2023.

The introduction of the e-vignette in the course of the year has the advantage that the systems can be gradually optimized and the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) can directly incorporate the experience thus gained into sales for the vignette year 2024.

The e-vignette for Switzerland will not replace the existing adhesive vignette, but both variants will be used in parallel. The e-vignette will be available via a BAZG web portal.

Austria significantly increases prices for 2023
Austrian vignette prices have been raised more significantly than usual for 2023. The new price for the annual car vignette is 96.40 (+ 2.60 euros), for two months 29 (+ 80 cents), and the 10-day sticker now costs 9.90 euros (+ 30 cents). Motorcyclists also have to dig deeper into their pockets: The annual vignette now costs 38.20 (+ 1 euro), the two-month vignette 14.50 (+ 40 cents) and the 10-day vignette 5.80 euros (+ 20 cents). All increases for the coming year are thus 100 percent higher than in the previous year (2021 to 2022).

Caution is advised here with dubious online providers: They sometimes charge more than double the price.

Porsche: A 911 Carrera becomes a toy for children 🎥

WHERE YOU MEET Porsche is staging a special sculpture at Miami Art Week and Art Basel Miami Beach, where the sports car manufacturer is unveiling its new virtual brand presence.

The centerpiece of the installation "Dream Big." is a white Porsche 911 Carrera that looks like a toy car in the hands of a larger-than-life figure wearing a racing driver's helmet. The artwork is a tribute by Scottish digital artist and Porsche fan Chris Labrooyan to the dreams of his childhood.

Digital artist Chris Labrooyan recalls childhood dreams with a larger-than-life figure.

"Dream Big." is on display on the beach at the Pérez Art Museum Miami, where it will be freely accessible from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from Nov. 29 to Dec. 3. The work joins "The Art of Dreams" initiative launched last October.

Rose maze and a 911 S 2.4 Targa
It all started with a work by French artist Cyril Lancelin in Paris. His installation "Remember your dreams" with huge air-filled elements was later also exhibited in Singapore. This was followed in June 2022 by the installation "Everywhereness" by Ruby Barber (Studio Mary Lennox, Berlin) at Milan Design Week.

This botanical artwork, featuring a maze of wild roses and a 1972 Porsche 911 S 2.4 Targa, asked about the relationship between nature, man-made spaces, and technology.

KW suspensions: Nippy suspension for the Multivan T7 🎥

As of now, the KW V3 coilover suspension is available for the VW T7 Multivan with front-wheel drive. It gives the car a sporty, harmonious ride. A lowering of up to 55 millimeters is possible.

At 4.97 meters, the new VW T7 Multivan is longer and, at 1.94 meters, wider than its T6.1 predecessor. Nevertheless, much of the driving experience has remained almost unchanged, although the T7 also has a slightly longer front overhang and now a wheelbase of 3.12 meters.

KW suspensions Multivan T7
With the KW V3 coilover suspension, the VW T7 Multivan drives more dynamically without losing comfort.

Lowering of up to 55 millimeters
The stainless steel coilover suspension for the T7 Multivan allows stepless lowering of up to 55 millimeters at the drive axle and rear axle. If the maximum lowering is not to be exhausted, a minimum lowering of only 35 millimeters is also possible with the KW coilover suspension at the trapezoidal threads of the front struts and at the rear axle height adjustment.

The coilover suspension for the T7 Multivan is also set up with dampers with adjustable multi-valve damper technology, which enables harmonious suspension even with a tight setup. The basic tuning of the dampers and the springs as well as the suspension travel of the KW V3 are always designed "as tight as necessary and as comfortable as possible". You can see how the parts are mounted in the video using the example of a T6.

With a few clicks to the desired destination
With 16 clicks, the cross-section in the low-speed rebound valve can be varied to adjust the damping precisely to the individual driving sensation. If the rebound stage is opened, the ride comfort increases noticeably.

When the rebound valve is closed, the pitching and rolling movements of the 1.90 meter high body are significantly reduced. Handling becomes more dynamic than on the standard model. In addition, the adjustable low-speed compression stage can be closed or opened with twelve clicks to influence the steering behavior and the grip level of the tires.

Simply put, the task of the rebound damping is to tie the chassis to the road, while the compression damping, on the other hand, influences the compression and supports the body structure. Prices on request.

Maserati: Honor for F1 pioneer Maria Teresa De Filippis 🎥

SPECIAL EDITIONS The F Tributo Special Edition of Ghibli and Levante is a tribute to Maria Teresa De Filippis. She was the first woman to qualify for a Formula 1 Grand Prix - at the wheel of a Maserati 250F.

From the tenacious spirit of Maria Teresa De Filippis (center gallery) and Maserati's strong connection to motorsport, the new F Tributo Special Edition was born. It is available for the Ghibli and Levante in the exclusive colors Arancio Devil and Grigio Lamiera. The special edition takes sportiness to a new level with eye-catching details.

F Tributo Special Edition
The special editions of the Ghibli and Levante (pictured) can be identified by their special colors.

Even the exterior is reminiscent of the adrenaline rush on the racetrack. The interior picks up on the accents of the exterior paint finishes in cobalt blue and orange stitching, paired with black or orange grained Pieno Fiore natural leather.

First woman in Formula 1 67 years ago
In October 1955, De Filippis took part in the 39th Targa Florio, driving a Maserati A6GCS together with Luigi Bellucci. She finished ninth overall and was fourth in the two-liter class. This was the turning point of her career. She broke with convention and mastered one challenge after another until, in 1958, she became the first woman to compete in Formula One - again in a Maserati.

67 years later, the F Tributo Special Edition celebrates this heritage. Elegance, high performance and sportiness renew the successful collaboration between Maserati and Maria Teresa De Filippis. A story of tenacity, courage, audacity and the ability to look resolutely to the future.

Reitnau: Mountain race is unfortunately a thing of the past 🎥

OFF AND GONE Now it's definite: The ACS will not be staging any more hill climbs in Reitnau in the future. The ACS board has already made this decision at the end of September.

However, it was important to the ACS to first personally inform all persons directly involved about this decision and to show the motives that led to this decision. The municipalities, all landowners and the associations were also informed in advance in writing about this decision.

Reitnau hill climb
In the coming season there will be no more pictures of the start in Reitnau. Too bad.

Not enough financial resources
The background to this decision is that it is unfortunately no longer possible for the ACS to provide sufficient financial resources for this major event. This is due to the changed market situation in the automotive environment. This has changed very quickly and unfortunately not very much in favor of motorsports.

Thomas Kohler, managing director and organizer of the event (gallery center): "It's not Corona itself, if anything, the time after Corona and now still the current problems in the world market. E-vehicles will be the future on the roads, but for now we can not meet this need to our sponsors in motorsport, and the majority of it does not meet the wishes of our spectators."

No chance for the anniversary occasion
After 54 years of hill climb Reitnau is over with motorsport in the Suhrental, although the anniversary caps for the 55th edition, already since 2020 in the cellar. The ACS regrets this decision very much. In this decision, other factors were also taken into account. A change in spectator behavior, but also the shift of advertising money to Internet marketing.

Corporate sponsorship on site is on the decline. This is also felt by many other organizers, outside of motorsport. The situation is aggravated by the fact that the space available in Reitnau, which has become increasingly limited in recent years, leaves no scope for adapting and expanding the event to meet the new requirements of a major event.

Abarth: Now the Scorpion is also a Stromer 🎥

FAST FLASHER Abarth is ushering in a new era with the presentation of the all-electric 500e. The newcomer enriches - now almost without noise and emissions - the range in Europe and Brazil.

The new, all-electric Abarth 500e is said to be exciting in city traffic, but also torquey and very agile when driving out of town. In short, the manufacturer even talks about "more Abarth than ever. Thanks to optimized weight distribution, more powerful torque, a longer wheelbase and increased track widths, the E-Abarth is said to perform better than the gasoline-powered model in a direct comparison.

Abarth 500e
In combined driving mode, the new electric Abarth 500e achieves ranges of around 250 kilometers.

Only seven seconds to 100 km/h.
The 500e with the scorpion offers better responsiveness than an Abarth 695, for example, achieving 50 percent better acceleration from 20 to 40 km/h compared with its gasoline-powered counterpart. The Abarth 500e also responds more quickly on corner entry and comes out of corners faster. With its 42-kWh battery and 113-kW electric motor (155 hp), the new 500e makes it from 0 to 100 km/h from a standstill in just seven seconds.

Track mode for more sportiness
Three driving modes are available: Turismo, Scorpion Street and Scorpion Track. They give customers the freedom to further enhance the sporty setup and bring the vehicle's power to the road in any situation. With a maximum of 100 kW, Turismo mode favors smoother acceleration and more efficient fuel consumption.

Scorpion Street mode maximizes peak power and regenerative braking. One-pedal driving is possible in both modes. Finally, Scorpion Track mode is for those looking for even more sportiness.

Sufficient energy in five minutes
To minimize charging time, the Abarth 500e is equipped with an 85-kW fast charging system. This charges a sufficient energy reserve for the average daily requirement of around 40 kilometers in less than five minutes. To charge the car conveniently at home, an Easy Wallbox can be installed, which is simply placed on the wall near a power outlet.
