Formula 1: Two points for the team from Hinwil 🎥

AND IT CONTINUES The Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team scored two points in the Constructors' Championship at the Australian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen won ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.

In the chaotic race, which was stopped and restarted three times, Zhou Guanyu from the Hinwil team kept a cool head and finished tenth. As Carlos Sainz, who was initially in front of him, was given a five-second time penalty, Guanyu was ultimately classified ninth. Team-mate Valtteri Bottas finished eleventh, narrowly missing out on the points.

Solid race without mistakes

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Team Representative: "The Australian Grand Prix showed once again how important it is to fight until the end of a race. We never let up, managed the race well and created chances as a result. Luck was on our side, but we had to take advantage of it. Both Zhou and Valtteri drove a solid race without any mistakes. Two points are a good haul. We now have to use the short break before the next race in Baku to get back to our performance from the Bahrain Grand Prix."

Before the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on April 30, 2023, the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team now has a total of six World Championship points to its name.

Porsche: More fun in the next Cayenne

ADVERTISEMENT CONCEPT Porsche presents a fundamentally new architecture for the interior of the freshly launched Cayenne. The Porsche Driver Experience opens up new possibilities for interaction for driver and front passenger.

Porsche Cayenne
The next Cayenne presents itself with a newly arranged interior layout.

With the new edition of the Cayenne, which will celebrate its world premiere at Auto Shanghai on April 18, Porsche is introducing a new display and operating concept. The Porsche Driver Experience stands for fully digital display, versatile individualization and intuitive operation. The most important controls are grouped around the steering wheel. This is intended to create an even more intensive driving experience.

Extra display for the passenger

The new cockpit incorporates elements of the Taycan for the first time in a Porsche model with an internal combustion engine. It includes a digital instrument cluster in curved and free-standing design with variable display options, a redesigned center console, and a new generation of steering wheel. The automatic gear selector is located to the right of the steering wheel. This creates space on the center console for a large climate control panel. Passengers experience a new level of interaction with the vehicle and driver via the optional front passenger display.

Digital and analog elements

Depending on the view selected, the focus is on the tachometer, online navigation, night vision assistant or 3-D driving assistance. A key feature of the new Driver Experience is the right balance between digital and analog elements. All the controls that are important for the driving experience are also grouped directly around the steering wheel. In typical Porsche fashion, the new engine start button is located to the left of the steering wheel. The new multifunction sports steering wheel originates from the 911 and has been completely redesigned compared to the previous model.

Connectivity improvement

Porsche has further improved connectivity in the new Cayenne. A cooled storage area with inductive charging function is available as standard for smartphones. The cooling allows optimized charging power of up to 15 watts. Extended integration of online services brings new possibilities for interaction, such as the use of the Siri voice assistant to operate vehicle functions.

Fiat: Scudo, Ducato and Doblò as electric vehicles

SUSTAINABLE TRIO To meet the demands of the Swiss market in terms of sustainability, Fiat Professional has now completely converted its commercial vehicle model range to electric drive.

Fiat Scudo Ducato Doblò
The E-Doblò is Fiat Professional's third electric vehicle after the E-Ducato and E-Scudo.

By analyzing data from 4,000 light commercial vehicles and more than 50 million kilometers traveled in one year, Fiat Professional was able to determine an accurate customer profile. This data was then integrated into the development of the vehicles. This should ensure that the electric models can handle all tasks just as well as the combustion engines.

Maneuverability and good use of space

The manufacturer cites maneuverability, easy maneuverability and good use of space as advantages of the new E-Scudo (gallery left and center). It also offers numerous driver assistance systems. There is a choice of 50- and 75-kWh batteries, which can be charged with charging powers of up to 11 kW AC and up to 100 kW DC.

The new E-Ducato (gallery on the right) offers maximum flexibility with two battery sizes (47 and 79 kWh). These come with a warranty of ten years or 220,000 kilometers (79 kWh) and eight years or 160,000 kilometers (47 kWh) respectively. Thanks to a 90 kW electric motor (280 Nm, 122 hp), the E-Ducato accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in five seconds.

The new model is available in two lengths and three configurations - as a van, crew cab van and Combi E-Doblò. In the all-electric version, the maximum payload is 800 kilograms, while in the combustion versions it is 1000 kilograms. The E-Doblò is equipped with a 100 kW electric motor and a 50 kWh battery and has a range of 280 kilometers according to WLTP.

Kia: First pictures and data of the finished EV9 🎥

LAST DETAILS It is now clear how Kia's EV9 electric car will hit the road. The car is expected to lead the brand's transformation into a provider of sustainable mobility solutions in the age of electrification.

The Kia EV9 is based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and offers high driving performance including a range of more than 540 kilometers according to WLTP. In addition, thanks to the fast 800-volt charging function, the battery is recharged after only about 15 minutes for a distance of 239 kilometers.

Kia EV9
The Kia EV9 presents itself in new dimensions and proportions as a 6- or 7-seater.

It remains the typical tiger nose

The EV9 has a wheelbase of 3.10 meters and can be fitted with 19-, 20- or 21-inch wheels. With an overall length of 5.01 meters, width of 1.98 meters and height of 1.76 meters, the vehicle gives off a bold appearance.

Its front radiates confidence and composure with clean lines and surfaces. The familiar digital tiger nose underscores unmistakable identity. And thanks to the aerodynamically optimized underbody paneling, which has a convex shape at the front and a concave shape at the rear, the new wheels and the air vents integrated into the bumper, the body achieves the good cW-value of 0.28.

Also available with all-wheel drive on request

The rear wheels of the EV9, which is available as a 6- or 7-seater, are expected to be driven by a 150 kW electric motor (204 hp, 350 Nm) that draws power from a 76-kWh battery. The all-wheel-drive variant uses a 99.8-kWh battery and two electric motors, which together make an output of 283 kW (385 hp) and a combined torque of 600 Nm available.

The EV9 is also equipped with a vehicle-to-load function as standard. The integrated charging control unit enables discharging with up to 3.68 kW, for example for laptops or camping equipment. Really practical.

Hyundai: First charging robots on the way 🎥

FUTURE At the Seoul Mobility Show, Hyundai is presenting an automatic charging robot for electric vehicles. This can work in all conditions, regardless of weather and obstacles.

Hyundai Motor Group, which owns the Kia, Hyundai and Genesis brands, has developed a one-armed automatic charging robot for electric vehicles that can insert the charging cable plug into an electric vehicle's charging port and unplug it when charging is complete. The robot will be unveiled at the Seoul Mobility Show, which runs through April 9.

Hyundai loading robot
The automatic loading robot works reliably even in darkness and bad weather.

Control as if by magic

The accompanying video shows how a Hyundai Ioniq 6 autonomously parks at the charging station. Subsequently, the robot communicates with the vehicle to open the charging port. The exact position and angle of the charging port are calculated using a camera. The robot then inserts the plug of the charging cable into the port and starts the charging process. Once this is complete, the robot removes the charging plug, returns it to its place and closes the vehicle's charging flap.

Artificial intelligence in action

Dong Jin Hyun, head of Hyundai Motor Group's Robotics Lab, said, "The ACR will help make electric vehicle charging more convenient, especially in dark environments."

To ensure that the robot works reliably, the Group has developed an algorithm that uses 3-D camera-based artificial intelligence. Next-generation control technology based on this application enables the robot to handle heavy charging cables with precision. Automatic charging robots will therefore significantly increase the convenience of charging electric vehicles.

In addition, in combination with autonomous parking control systems, they can help improve the utilization of charging stations in the future by charging several parked vehicles one after the other or next to each other.

Porsche: 5000 911s in seven generations

START NUMBER 911 The participation of a VIP vehicle has a long tradition in the Porsche Supercup. In the 2023 season, the specially painted 911 GT3 Cup will be the 5000th vehicle for the one-make cup based on the Porsche 911.

Porsche Motorsport
For generations, the 911 has proven itself on the road and on the racetrack.

Porsche has produced seven generations of one-make cup race cars since 1990. Engine output has increased from 265 to 510 hp. At the end of November last year, the 5,000th one-make cup race car rolled off the production line in Zuffenhausen. Porsche Motorsport makes the 510-hp 911 GT3 Cup available to prominent guest starters at selected races.

Porsche Cups on all continents

What began in 1990 in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland with the first nine-cylinder Cup has become a success story with a total of 34 one-make cups sanctioned by Porsche worldwide. From the Weissach development center, the Cup idea has conquered almost every continent over the decades. Porsche Carrera Cups are currently held in Europe, America, Asia and Australia. At the top since 1993 is the international Porsche Supercup, which will compete in eight European Formula 1 rounds in 2023.

From series to GT race car

From the very beginning, series production technology was also to prove itself on the race track, and all Cup vehicles were built centrally by Porsche. The 911 Carrera RS of the 964 generation initially served as the base vehicle, which was modified for use in the one-make cup with little more than safety equipment, sports suspension and a racing exhaust system. Above all, the introduction of increasingly comprehensive safety regulations and the internationalization of the one-make cup concept meant that the Cup 911 was transformed more and more into a thoroughbred race car from generation to generation.

Production on the same belt

The production GT3 and GT3 Cup still share many technical components. For example, the free-suction six-cylinder boxer engine, which with its unchanged output of 510 hp ensures that no overhaul is necessary during an entire Supercup or Carrera Cup season. The visual distinguishing feature is the widened body of the 911 Turbo with adjustable spoiler lip at the front and rear wing with gooseneck suspension.

The race cars developed by Porsche Motorsport in Weissach come off the production line side by side with 911 series models at the main plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.
