New Flagship Zeekr 9X: Taking on the Luxury Segment
Impressive, comfortable, and technologically sophisticated: With the 9X, Zeekr is bringing an 897 PS six-seater to Switzerland. The SUV is all-electric but features a gasoline engine as a range extender—and is sure to amaze in many ways.

So this is what the challenge to the established players in the luxury class looks like. Admittedly, the Zeekr 9X’s design has been known for quite some time. But when it was unveiled at its Swiss premiere in a stately location right on Lake Zurich—and you see it in person for the first time—the Chinese car certainly makes an impression with its imposing front end and massive chrome grille. The reactions of those in attendance speak volumes: admiration all around.

With its new flagship model—a term that comes up quite often during the presentation—the premium brand from the Geely Group is expanding its model lineup at the high end. Linus Baumgartner, Brand Director of Zeekr Switzerland, says: «For us, this is a milestone on our journey in Switzerland and the beginning of a new chapter in the luxury segment.» Lothar Schupet, CEO for Europe, takes a more aggressive stance: «We want to set a benchmark in the luxury class.»

It quickly becomes clear what this means in practice. Inspired by motor yachts, art, and modern architecture—and, like all Zeekr models, designed in Gothenburg—this SUV makes an impressive statement with its 5.24-meter length, 2.03-meter width, and 3.17-meter wheelbase. What’s inside is just as impressive: high-quality materials such as Nordic wood, nappa leather, and a K9 crystal glass control knob make it immediately clear what league the 9X is in. And then there are the technical features.

Movies at the Push of a Button
In the rear, a retractable 17-inch 3K OLED display transforms the interior into a private movie theater at the touch of a button, complemented by a Naim sound system with 32 speakers. The small onboard refrigerator keeps drinks cool or hot, with a temperature range from minus 6 to plus 50 degrees Celsius. In the second row, the six-seater features two so-called zero-gravity seats with reclining backrests that extend far back, extendable leg rests, and a massage function. The two seats in the third row are also electrically adjustable and heated. There’s plenty of space for luggage, too: 677 liters, and with the rear seats folded down, the trunk capacity increases to up to 2,148 liters.

Super Hybrid with 897 PS
For the powertrain, Zeekr is relying on its so-called “Super Hybrid” system for the first time. While the 9X is always powered by electricity, a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine serves as a range extender. With 660 kW/897 PS and 935 Nm, the 2.9-metric-ton all-wheel-drive vehicle accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. In all-electric mode, its 55-kWh battery provides a range of up to 179 km, with a total range of up to 737 km. And thanks to 900-volt technology, it can go from 10 to 80 percent charge in just over nine minutes at a fast-charging station.

Schupet, CEO of Europa, raves: «Some of the features this car offers aren’t even available in the premium segment—and in some cases, not even in the luxury segment.» The 9X has been available for order since October. The first vehicles are scheduled to be delivered in the first quarter of 2027, with Emil Frey handling imports and sales in Switzerland. And what does all this luxury cost? The Zeekr 9X starts at 117,500 Swiss francs. That’s quite a statement, too.
