The coronavirus crisis has led to a cycling boom in Switzerland, among other things. Many people now want to take their two-wheeler with them in their car. An external bike rack is easier to load, and there is also more space in the car for people and luggage.
A rear carrier requires a trailer coupling or a tailgate approved by the vehicle manufacturer on which the carrier can be mounted.
Electric bikes are no lightweights
A suitable bike rack must be suitable for the number and type of bikes, but it must also have sufficient load capacity. For transport on the roof, the car needs roof rails or a carrier system approved by the vehicle manufacturer.
